Word is they will house everyone downtown. Expects they eventually build on that lot next to 1600 Louisiana (which they own, not lease).

The bill signing coincided with LED Secretary Susan B. Bourgeois’ announcement of her senior leadership team, which adds extensive private sector, economic development and change management experience at a pivotal moment in the agency’s history.
“Today we are taking the first big step toward restoring Louisiana’s position as the economic powerhouse of the South,” Governor Landry said. “We have always had the most skilled and dedicated workers, the richest natural resources and the best location for national and international commerce in the country. Now, with the signing of this bill and the leadership of Secretary Bourgeois, we can finally take full advantage of all the things that make Louisiana so special and give our workers and their families the future they deserve.”
The legislation establishes a private sector-led board – the Louisiana Economic Development Partnership (LEDP) – charged with developing an economic development strategic plan and advising on policies, programs and initiatives that promote economic growth in the state. It also provides the agency with critical flexibility to operate at the speed of business by exempting it from state procurement and technology services bottlenecks.

Sadly they will not
If it was, say, a retail company or a tech company, I’d worry about being swamped by granola fairy people. But if you’re Texas, oil company people are exactly the kind you want moving in.

What sense did it make for an O&G company to be headquartered in Cali?

They have been moving people out of that office for 10 years now. Surprised to hear it wasn’t official yet.

Still reasonable given what I get for good public schools and what I have left on my loan.
That’s fair, to a degree I feel the same. But it wouldn’t hurt my feelings at all if our area had $0 in property value increases for the next 5-10 years.

They have two large buildings in downtown Houston right now (they took over both Enron buildings) - no idea of how much available space they have
I was just there a couple weeks ago meeting with them about some H2 projects. There was A LOT of empty space on the 3 floors i visited that day.

There are a lot of libs in Texas these days.
There always have been. Through out my life the biggest Libs/Progressives I know are Texans.

Hopefully they restructure so they can let all the California employees go and rehire folks from Texas and LA.

They will be downtown in the towers... most already have offices there.. the San Ramon campus has been shrinking for years.. the plans for a third tower have been done since 2005 but I doubt we dust those off considering current available space and some new energies and tech jobs shifting away from showing up in person daily.. the LSU or SEC as a whole recruiting has always been a focus for our technical group

Chevron employee / hubby: Honey we're moving to Texas! No libs and no state income tax.
Unfortunately, Texas is on its way to turning blue. Only one major city (Dallas) has a Republican mayor.

Chevron split its California assets years ago. They are setting up to sell or JV any California assets like Oxy did with CRC. I want to remember 2018-19 they offered people to move out of California on the upstream side for other projects around the US.

You also have to factor in their acquisition of Hess, currently on hold I guess you could say, until the Guyana issue gets resolved. If it proceeds, Chevron will also have access to the Hess Tower. It’s adjacent to Discovery Green and GRB Convention Center, about 3 blocks from Minute Maid. I say access to since another business or two also are located in the Hess Tower.

I had from 1-3 meetings weekly at 1600 for years and they would sometimes start at 8:00. I rode the bus in (which drops you off right outside 1600) so I could sleep in traffic. No regrets.

The Dallas mayor recently changed his political party from Democrat to Republican in the last year. Right after he changed over to Republican his affair with a city employee was miraculously exposed to the media. Funny how that happens.
Now the California employees will sell their homes in the Bay Area for $1.5 to $3million each & then move to Houston & pay $1 million cash for a home & have money to spare & put more squeeze on Texans trying to buy homes.

Californians are doing the same thing right now to Idaho and Wyoming in regards to housing.
