any go the international route not only cause they feel like they are literally saving a child's life that way...but also because many times those children are actual orphans...without a bio family to potentially change their mind at the last minute. It's less red tape for the couples sometimes and that is what makes it more appealing.

You left out the ones who do it because they think Chinese kids are cute, or to use it as some bump in social status

That doesn't sound legal.

You would have to follow the law in order to take custody but why wouldn't it be legal? Also, why can't abortion clinics make a deal where they can hook up women who want an abortion with people looking to adopt if the woman is open to it and have an auction for the rights to her baby. Let the free market work and its a win-win.

If you took it the next day and actually had already conceived the zygote would be less than 24 hours old and it wouldn't even be an embryo yet. I don't see how that is murder.

I'm not trying to make a case one way or the other, I'm just taking the logic to its conclusion. Plan B is so popular because if it fails to prevent a pregnancy by all other methods, the "failsafe" is that it will prevent the fertilized egg from attaching and developing and the woman will simply pass it. People use it all the time because they just convince themselves that it will work well before that step ever takes place, but sometimes it doesn't. If you're pro-life, I don't see how you can support Plan B in its current form.

are you arguing it should be legal? Because the scenario you laid out isn't legal currently.

Considering all the time and money that goes into an adoption...I would imagine there are very few cases of people doing it for the "wrong" reasons. As for wanting a child that looks more like them..I see nothing wrong with that. I personally wouldn't have an issue adopting a child a completely different race than me, but others may not be as comfortable with that.

Adoption is still a very noble thing. It allows a couple to fulfill their dream of becoming parents while giving an otherwise unwanted child a chance to have loving parents love and raise them and provide a better life for them.

While a zygote contains all of the genetic information necessary to form a new individual it actually hasn't formed that new individual yet. I think that doesn't happen until it becomes an embryo. Right?

Not even if you go through the proper legal channels after? It should be legal, if it isn't that is retarded.

Well, if there are 700,000 to 1,000,000 abortions in the U.S. annually, it sounds like adoptions have a lot of catching up to do. It seems to me that even if expectant mothers were willing to carry their unwanted child to term and give it away for free, there still wouldn't be enough competent/suitable adoptive parents.

All true.

None of them had an easy or cheap experience.

You know who else doesn't have an easy or cheap experience? The mother carrying the child. It's really easy to sit here and say "just carry it then give it up for adoption." It's an entirely different thing to actually do it.
------------------------------------------------------------

No shite. That's why I wrote "...even if expectant mothers were willing to carry their unwanted child to term and give it away for free..."

It's a huge "if", and it's unreasonable to expect every knocked up 16 y/o to do it. Even Chelsea Handler.

I know two couple who were outright scammed by pregnant mothers. They shelled out thousands of dollars for prenatal care, household expenses and God knows what else over six or seven months, only to have "mom" renege at the last moment. They would have been better parents than the trailer trash unwed mother could have dreamed of ever being. But it was her bastard child/poker chip, so she played her cards to best suit her own interests, not the child's.

It is an amazing thing. It does suck that it seems you have less rights to your kid compared to a "real" parent, for example Jesse James lost all custody and parental rights he just because he cheated on his wife, but people who adopt are amazing.

I don't know where other people define when life begins, but I'm of the opinion it happens at fertilization. I don't know where others draw the line.

Saw this when I worked at Woman's years ago as a postpartum nurse. 17 year old girl was pregnant and wanted to give the baby up for adoption. The contract stated that if mom tested positive for drugs....it voided the contract. Somewhere along the pregnancy the white trash friends and family of this chick convinced her that she would profit more by keeping the child(by getting welfare, food stamps, etc). So what does this piece of trash do? Several weeks before the due date she gets her hands on any drugs she can...and takes them all(weed, meth, crack, ANYTHING). Causes her to go into labor early and put the baby at risk(luckily baby was ok). All because she wanted more free stuff. When actually...legally she has like 3 days after the child is born to change her mind. She didn't even have to do all that.

I had to care for her and felt heartbroken for the adoptive parents. Had to bite my tongue caring for the girl and her white trash family(who constantly kept asking us for their "freebies" they were entitled to from the hospital).

I get it. But my point is that I don't get my rocks off on seeing women condemned as evil or promiscuous or whatever else the abortion lobby would say about dudes like me. I don't think I'm a better human being than some girl who gets an abortion, but that doesn't mean I think society should reinforce the behavior.

Rather, I think society needs to condemn the behavior. I hope we can figure out how to do it as constructively and non-destructively as possible, but I think the whole "it's evil to judge a woman who gets an abortion" is beneath us as a country.

Abortion gets to the very heart of how we treat life. I'm not going to be sanctimonious or religious about it, but it should be a very existential issue for people. It thus makes no sense to treat it casually.

100% correct! When a child is adopted, they should never have any doubt that their parents wanted them.

What shitty people. White trash looking for free handouts while leveraging a child makes me sick.

The sad thing is that it's a learned trait passed down from generation to generation on how to work the system. These people have no self respect.

I say life begins at fertilization because I can't think of a better, or more importantly, less ambiguous, place to draw the line. I know people disagree, and if you do, I'd like to hear the counter argument and reasoning.

That should be a criminal act that involves some type of punishment. There is nothing worse than trash (in general, race doesn't matter).. human trash I guess you can call it, but as stupid as these people are, the one thing they know how to do is work the system..

As the old saying goes, "There's no trash like white trash."

I'm convinced that some of these bimbos get knocked up just to scam potential adoptive parents. In my experience, it's always been white girls, preying on white couples trying to adopt. The white couple has some disposable income, a defective reproductive system and good intentions. The grifter and her trash family provide false hope to the childless couple, for a price.

The unborn child is just a bargaining chip to the birth mother. It's awful.

This is not to say that there aren't young, pregnant, low income girls out there who realize they aren't ready to be a parent, but don't believe in abortion. There are. It's great that they are mature enough to decide to provide their unborn child with a better life than they are capable of providing. But that's not always the case. Some of these bitches are con artists.

How do you feel about IVF? If you believe that life begins at fertilization then you must stop any and all IVF procedures. Destroying unused embryos would be murder.
