Check your cabin air filters, baws

I recently purchased a used truck. The previous owner took really good care of it, but I was noticing a smell coming out of the air vents. I tried AC deodorizers, but the smell persisted.
Some quick googling, and I discovered that the truck had cabin air filters. None of my other vehicles have one, so I didn't even think of looking there.
Look at these nasty things. There were dead bugs, leaves, various debris, and a quarter inch of dust on them. No wonder there was a smell.
I put an air freshener on top of the filter so that clean smelling air is always coming out of the vents.

Often overlooked but a nice quick upgrade for a cabin.

Mine is behind the glovebox. Never knew

sadly that's one of the only things I check/change on my own

....am I the only one who changes these yearly?
Also... Look up drift air fresheners
They smell good without making your car smell like air freshener.
Sandalwood and tobacco. Ftmfw

Yeah, you have to unlatch the glovebox from the dash to get to mine.

Oh no, you should never put a freshener on top of the filter. It disgronificates the air coming from the engine and mixes in with particulates that because of the proximity of your mouth and nostrils to the source, can line your lungs with toxic aggregates than can cause carcinogenic lesions on the lining of your lungs. Science.

I put my wife's car in the shop for some new tires a few weeks ago and the guy called me when it was almost ready and told me "I'm not sure if that is the worst cabin air filter I've ever seen but it's close"
I always forget to change those damn things.

Your vehicle will smell moldy and musty if you don't change regularly. A real PIA if leaves fall on top of the blower motor when changing the filter.

Where do you find the cabin filters on a '19 Chevy Z71 and a '19 330i?

I let them do it in my wife's car.
I let them do it the first time I took it in, and it took them some effort to get the glove box back together. I could tell it was a PITA. I'll pay extra to avoid doing that

Whenever I get an oil change they usually check the cabin filter. If it looks like it needs changing I'll order one from Amazon and change it for 1/4 of their price.

I wear a covid mask made out of a 13 year old bedsheet when I drive. If it protects me from viruses of the Asian variety, it'll protect me from toxic aggregates.
