That looks like the average $140k house in Terrytown.

Minus an extra 1,100 sq. ft.

Eta. I need to tell my 87 yr. old mother, that she is now a multi-millionaire! 2,000 sq. ft. of Terrytown gold!

I live in a neighboring city. 2M gets you pretty much nothing here now.

Doesn't look like it would have much hiding space for all of my PMAGs.

Damn you’re right. That house is half the size of a terrytown house. Wow.

Demand is very high in silicon valley. The amount if high paying tech jobs and startups in that one area is mind boggling. Also, great weather and beautiful scenery.

People are dumb.

The buyer I mean....

They buyer is probably loaded, and will no doubt see a nice return on the investment in the future if housing trends in the area stay the course.

And they're probably pretty bright tech wise to be making that kind of dough in that industry.

So the opposite of dumb is more like what he or she probably is.

Maybe but it’s not like it sits on a lot of land and the houses that are next door from the pics look equally quaint.

Actually, it's a huge lot for the area. The back yard is massive, relatively speaking.

More reason not to live in California for any amount of money.

Land is so goddamn expensive that you spend millions on a shitty house just for a tear down and rebuild.

I mean, there has to be some limit to what people will pay for tiny shitty houses over there.

We were just out there last summer. We’ve been looking for places to live for the summer and The Palo Alto area was one we wanted to check out. It is insanely pricey.
Now we’re thinking New England.
Beautiful towns up there in Northern Cal but crazy expensive.

Check out way more north...like Acadia or Crescent City. Its really pretty and peaceful in the redwoods. Cheaper as well.

Some well-placed Section 8 housing would remedy that.

I don’t get how regular businesses could exist there. With the $ per square foot of real estate being so high, you would think there wouldn’t be any gas stations or grocery stores or anything like that.

The income is also a lot more. They pass the cost on to all the schmucks around the country buying the goods/services. Like the schmucks in this thread laughing at the price.

The owners/operators live outside the area or in relatively meager conditions.
