Yep, the value of this house will drop like a stone to around 1.85 million.

Serious question: What do the homes of poor people look like?
In another thread living in a box.

If I could afford a home where the average temperature in July 77° I would do it so fast. It's almost as if people want to live in California more so than Louisiana. Strange.

Buyer paid $550,000 above asking price. A crash like 08 could surely send it to 1.2 mil.

I would love to know how bad the buyer wanted to live in that town, that they were willing to buy that house for that price.
I’m literally laughing thinking about the crap that went through that persons head to talk themselves into that BS

People are dumb. The buyer I mean....
No, this is what it costs there. I'm sure it would have gone cheaper if better were available. We were just talking price per sq.' and posted that a close friend paid about that for a house I described as generic, small, 1970's ranch style brick home...

It's possible that they were an international buyer that didn't even see the house. There has been a ton of Chinese buyers that "invest" in real estate here in the hot US markets. They basically pick an area where they like the long term prospects, then throw around cash with no regards to if they are getting a good deal currently or not. They don't care because they're usually just trying to hide their money over here. They trust US real estate more than the Chinese government. It's what made Vancouver, BC the most expensive real estate market in North America.
They did this in West Bellevue over the past couple of years and made the prices shoot through the roof. They buy homes sight unseen. The problem is they way overbid for places which destroy the comps of nearby properties and make everything around what they just purchased sell for much higher. I've seen it multiple times recently. Prices in West Bellevue went up 92.9% in one year. The median price went from $1.41 million in January 2017 to $2.72 million in January 2018.

Probably not much. Probably was extra cash sitting in an account.

$2,000,000 in California. 2 bedroom, 2 bath, 848 sq/ft.
$1,995,000 in Lafayette, La. 5 bedroom, 5 bath, 5871 sq/ft, 1 acre lot.
People in Cali are fricking rrtarded.

Why is such a great house only 1.995 million?
Its in Lafayette.
What are the 3 rules of real estate?
1. Location, 2. Location, 3. Location
If I could spend 2 million on a house it would be California here I come.

California is such a shithole now. Crime and illegals are the number one import

Funny thing is most of these people driving up prices and making everything insanely expensive there are leftists who will preach to everyone else about "sustainability"

So, a lot of posters have sat not buying in a lot of places for EIGHT years as prices still go up, missing great investments

The staging in this room put it over the top for me. $2 million seems like a bargain.

That'd be like $400-500k in Dallas. I thought that was high.
