We should be proud of the industries we have in place (Oil and Chemical) while also looking to additional sectors that can help the local economy weather economic downturns easier.
It will also help fight against the "Louisiana Brain Drain" of college graduates leaving LA for other states.

I don't disagree with any of this, and I suppose we have to start somewhere. I just long for the day where something so seemingly mundane is not seen as some sort of huge deal around here.

One reason why I hate Tech companies. Give me a fricking office. I want 4 walls, a door, and a roof. Windows would be nice but not necessary.
You know what other workplace looks like this....a sweatshop.

Yes, jobs are bad. We should tear down the plants too, dirty industrial environments that they are, employing thousands of dumb redneck operators. Let's all get jobs rescuing puppies. That'll make some money.
