Do what a logical person would do. Go to oreillys or whatever and have them check the computer code.

Do some research on code. Go from there

Go to oreillys and have them plug in the computer for free.

2” piece of electrical tape should cover it up nicely.

Ride the lightning.

Have you filled up lately, done anything to the motor?
If nothing done, drop by an AutoZone or like. Let them check the codes. That’s an easy start.

Go to Autozone and have them pull the code to see what the problem is. That way you can make an informed decision….

Everyone that owns a OBD II equipped car should own at least a cheap scan tool. You can pick them up as cheap as $20.

Go to an Autozone and use their reader to see what the light is about. You will get the code and they can tell you what it is and if it needs to be worked on immediately or if it can wait...

It will work. Probably a sensor, replacing will cost maybe $200.00. They engineer them for periodic mechanic rewards - to give business to car repair places. There are maybe five different sensors that periodically go out and require replacement. Go by an Autozone parts house and they will hook up their reader and tell you which sensor has crapped out. Then they will tell you it is ok to drive until you can get around to visiting a mechanic. Some of the sensors are located in places you can get to in order to replace them yourself. You can youtube it and see how hard it is to replace and if you do it yourself, Autozone's sensor will be a lot cheaper than the mechanic's part, with labor added on top of the sensor part.

Did you just get gas? If so it’s probably your gas cap isn’t tightened. Tighten the gas cap and it should reset in a few miles.
