That would be Sheila Jackson Lee ( homicide is the leading cause of murder ) from Texas. She wrapped up the title several years ago.

I for one believe the mayor should hire who they want as police chief. The idea that the guy is civil service protected is fine, but not to the point where he can't be replaced.
Now I don't agree at all with the position Ms. Broome has taken on policing and the current state of affairs in the Police Dept.; however, I don't think BRPD is in that good of shape overall.
I think Kip Holden let the number decline, I think we have too few officers working too much overtime and the base pay is too low.
I believe Kip should have done more in his 12 years to upgrade police pay, to get the numbers in the force up, to get more guys on the street working regular hours.
I have nothing against Dabadie. He has played the cards he was dealt, but I do he should serve at Broome's discretion as Chief, and be allowed to return to his former position.

What are the requirements to be on city council? Have a face? Obviously intelligence isn't on the list

Dabadie doesn't have to go anywhere. That's the beauty of civil service. He is gonna have to either truly be found a detriment to the city to be fired or she is gonna have to pay him a ton of money.
So really Dabadie has the best hand in this game right now

But he WILL not be removed. Period. Due to Civil Service rules and lack of probable cause, Dabadie cannot be force from his position. White was terminated because there was cause. If anyone tries to compare the two (Banks), then they are presenting alternative facts.

In her mind, reduce # of people getting arrested for crime = reduced crime. How you do that is to just stop arresting people altogether

You are exactly right.

Chauna Banks could be the dumbest human being alive. It boggles the mind that people have and continue to vote for this brainless moron. Every time I think she can't get any dumber she surprises me. Consider me surprised.
She'd not the dumbest alive but she is transparent and not very intelligent.
It's more surprising that you are surprised her constituents continue to blindly vote for her.

she looks strangely familiar for some reason....

$100 says that she was a social worker before becoming a councilwoman.

OK now. You need to GTFO with logic. This is the OT sir. Pitchforks and torches for all!

TL:DR- He needs to leave because I don't like him (and we all now why).

All the councilpeople still hold regular jobs, Metro Council isn't a full-time gig. Per her ballotpedia biography:
quote:
Banks-Daniel holds a bachelor's degree in computer science and a master's degree in mental health counseling from Southern University.
Doesn't say what she does other than Metro Council though. I'm sure someone on here knows.

She's repetitive and redundant.
Well when your vocabulary is limited...
