Kudos to the captains for participating.

I watched an oyster fisherman I knew walk off the boat with 2 sacks in each hand and one in his teeth

Many of the shrimpers are Vietnamese. Maybe that's what you're thinking of.

well it was more of a "jumping" than a fight and a deckhand is still paralyzed over it 3 weeks later

From the little I heard they were knocking down charter captains left and right. Apparently one guy was 4 for 4. Threw 4 punches and knocked out 4 guys.

Hope all 4 guys was Brent Roy.

Heard a couple charter guys got really hurt. I have seen legit movie style bar room brawls in the lower end before.

I’ve heard through the grapevine at least one person is in the hospital learning to use his body again. Must have gotten out of control.

The captain I talked to was in Venice the day of the fight but not at the bar. It was rough as frick that day and most trips were cancelled so I'd imagine the majority spent the day at the bar and had a good buzz going. According to him it started with a cheap shot on one of the captains, everyone got involved, and a couple of people got seriously injured. Last I talked to him no one had been arrested but they all know each other down there and who did it so he was afraid that it is going to escalate in the future.
