There’s a ton of horseshoe theory principles involved with online extremism. Stuff like meme preference isn’t really dispositive. Even the trans partner detail is less dispositive than people think, though it obviously cuts left. But mostly it suggests mental illness and autism.
The common thread is that they’re deranged sickos. This one happened to latch onto the left end of the horseshoe, and because of that he shot a conservative. He’d have probably shot someone else if he latched onto different politics. The problem is being deranged enough to shoot someone, and the source of that for this guy was the Internet.
