CenturyLink's next CEO won't live in Louisiana

LINK
CenturyLink's next chief executive won't live in Louisiana, but he emphasized the company's headquarters will remain in Monroe for now.
Jeff Storey, president and chief executive of Level 3, will take over as top executive of the largest public company headquartered in Louisiana Jan. 1, 2019.
Damn, I knew this was coming but if CenturyLink leaves it will be terrible for Monroe. It’s our main economic driver. They have so much invested in the area (and still building) that it would be really expensive and difficult to relocate elsewhere. Plus it’s employees will have to sell their houses which will be depreciating in value due because of it.

Can you blame him? I can't bear the idea of spending a weekend in Monroe, much less living there.

i would take a substantial pay cut to not have to live in monroe.

Even with all its faults, Baton Rouge is heaven compared to Monroe. Hell, I'd live in NBR before I move to Monroe.

Monroe isn’t Denver but it’s not so bad.

Lived in both for extended periods of time. The only thing better about baton rouge than Monroe is LSU and it's proximity to New Orleans. The 3 hour drive a few weekends a year is worth it over sitting in 3 hours of traffic everyday.

Live and work downtown. No traffic for me. And once the traffic dies down, there is stuff to do.
