Seems like that info should be emphasized by the media.

“Among patients aged 18–49 years, obesity was the most prevalent underlying condition, followed by chronic lung disease (primarily asthma) and diabetes mellitus. Among patients aged 50–64 years, obesity was most prevalent, followed by hypertension and diabetes mellitus; and among those aged =65 years, hypertension was most prevalent, followed by cardiovascular disease and diabetes mellitus.”

Table in the link shows all the numbers

59% of the total population under 49 are obese so that doesn’t really tell us anything.

Well, a large part of the 40% could still have underlying conditions of some kind.

The older people have more of a mix of other conditions to bring the percentage down. Imperative that younger folks get weight down

I wish the Task Force briefings provided more detailed info about what they are constituting as a comorbidity or underlying factor. By hypertension, do we mean the majority of obese individuals or just those on prescription drugs to treat their hypertension, etc.

Hypertension seems to be the most common. Plenty of skinny hypertensives out there.

But that includes the mountain west states where it’s closer to 17% obesity and they have very little virus exposure to date.

So pretty much proportional to the percentage that's obese? riveting stuff. Riveting stuff indeed.

40% simply weren’t obese

They could still have had only one lung with extreme diabetes and blood pressure of 170/100

40% of the country is obese, so I'm actually surprised the number isn't higher.
