From anecdotal evidence from my wife who treats covids: Lose weight. Period.

If you have to ask then lose weight.

Like 45% of the population is obese. Those numbers don’t really mean anything

That’s correct. You can be a male 5’11” and 215 and be considered obese.

Obesity is defined as calculated body mass index (BMI) =30 kg/m2, and if BMI is missing, by International Classification of Diseases discharge diagnosis codes. Among 73 patients with obesity, 51 (69.9%) had obesity defined as BMI 30–<40 kg/m2, and 22 (30.1%) had severe obesity defined as BMI =40 kg/m2.

Among the obese people:
~2/3(69.9%) = Obese
~1/3 (30.1%) = Guaranteed to have the middle seat next to me on an airplane

Well, a large part of the 40% could still have underlying conditions of some kind.

I'm 5'10, 170lbs which is pretty good.

I'm also a 53yo smoker with treated high blood pressure which scares the hell out of me.

40% is a big enough number to still kind of scare me tbh.

Just said being fat was the most prevalent UNDERLYING condition, being over half. Key words mean a lot.

Well, I think 65% of people over 60 have hypertension. Just happens when you get older. They're saying that is one of the biggest reason old folks are dying.

The next thing they list is asthma. You realize how many people have that? And how many types of asthma there are? That’s a huge swath of otherwise healthy people.
