This is anyone in national politics, and you're a fool if you believe otherwise.

So here’s my point. Just because you work at the plant, or you are an engineer or you own your business that you built from the ground up does not mean that you know the slightest thing about biology or diseases. Sorry, you aren’t as smart as you think you are and all truly competent and intelligent individuals defer to those with more knowledge about the subject at hand.

And conversely being an infectious disease expert doesn't mean you know the slightest thing about economics, government, international finance and trade. I would say competent and intelligent individuals should try to take all viewpoints into account and come up with an informed opinion.

And many of us did exactly that and could see that we were overreacting to this threat.

Honestly, they both belong in a nursing home.

I wonder if the CDC is saying this would be the IFR of people infected NOW (May/June 2020), not necessarily the IFR from the February/March infections.

Exactly, they say this is the estimate that should be used going forward for all modeling.

And I say again, what if we defer to your trained professionals for the inputs into our decision, but then use reasoned arguments and value judgments to decide for ourselves the best way to proceed?

Such an easy path to tyranny if all public policy is made by deferring to the experts and scientists in all cases.

If an expert’s recommendation to fix a problem with the world is incompatible with the value of liberty as I see it, that scientist can go frick himself and come up with an alternative solution or prove to me why that solution actually preserves liberty when compared with the alternatives.

How many of you guys making these definitive statements about COVID have even the slightest background in biology, biochemistry, medicine etc.? Next how many graduated from college? Next down on the list, how many attended college?

if that's your idea of Trump, I can only imagine what your idea of Biden or the media darling Cuomo is after he single-handedly killed hundreds of elderly in New York nursing homes.

Exactly. When you consider giving the federal government additional power, you should also keep in mind that someday you won't like the person that you've given said powers.

Why did China lie and hide it from the world? Did Italy’s media caused their lockdown too? What about South Korea? India? Did every country’s media get together and make this up?

1. Bc it was their fault

2. Oldest population in the world right? So extremely high risk.

3. Not sure

4. Not sure

5. Did every single other country in the world react the same way we did? No they didn’t bc different demographics.

And we now dwarf them in testing capacity (maybe not here in LA) per capita. SK didn’t test as many people as a lot want to believe.

So, going forward:

(1) IFR not catastrophic (new CDC guidance)
(2) Confirmed hospital capacity for ~15% or so of the population to be sick at once (NYC antibody test, NOLA antibody test TBD). At this usage rate there is no greater risk to hospital staff (Oschner Data).
(3) Evidence that a good portion of the population is pretty resistant to infection.

..The next constraint to consider? Remedisvir supply?
