What would a 1st degree murder charge award Mr Chauvin in the state of Minneapolis?

There was some conspiracy theory stuff about the club they worked at being a front for counterfeiting correct? And Floyd was busted with a fake $20.

Has there been any confirmation they both worked together or just internet rumors?

Do you know how bad it's going to be when a 3/4ths white jury gives this guy a short sentence.

I feel like a Mike Small or Lewis Unglesby type caliber lawyer can give this guy like 5 years

Wouldn’t it be a shame if someone in prison is waiting to be judge, jury, and executioner as Chauvin decided he needed to be.

Well if part of the case becomes he was settling a grudge then I can definitely see it changing how it may be viewed by a jury and it wouldn't favor Chauvin.

Or maybe we should investigate, charge, and prosecute killings but dispense with the rioting, looting, and general hysteria

While the jury will determine the charge in MN since it is a lesser included jury charge state, the sentence is mainly controlled by sentencing guidelines.

Assuming Chavin is a zero on the criminal history score the range for 2nd-degree murder is 261-367 months with 306 being the non-departure norm, 3rd-degree murder is 128-180 months with 150 being the non-departure norm. 1st degree is life with criminal history etc only coming into consideration in parole hearings. So the judge is fairly tightly held on sentencing to the guidelines unless he rules it a departure case which I don't see happening unless it is to move up the length of incarceration.

So it’s NOT racism or police brutality but a personal vendetta.

Okay time to shut everything down then

I actually thought this is why he was such a dick when I first heard about them working together. 100% chance of conviction now.

Never once did I ever think this was a racial issue.

Definitely possible it's an a-hole thing, but I wish more people could separate the two.
