Caught plagiarizing update

I walked into her office and sat down. She asked me about the paper and how she basically knew I'd copied and why I did it. I admitted that I copied and none of the blame should go on my friend that she was just trying to give me a guideline to use and in a moment of weakness and laziness I decided to copy her work as my own and that it is completely out of character and I would never do it again. She was disappointed in me but said because I was so honest and upfront with her she was gonna let me redo the paper for half credit. Said she hated to see students fail for one silly mistake, especially one that cares as much as I seem to. All in all I feel like I came out pretty good

You are extremely lucky. Usually, schools have very specific policies regarding plagiarism, and it has to be reported. Lesson learned.

You seriously have no idea how lucky you are. "Have you ever had an academic honor violation" is a question I have had to answer on applications to law school, post-grad degrees, security clearances, and job applications. I just hope you realize how bad this could have been for you and redeem yourself.
