I learned this on the OT.

One of the dumbest games of telephone is how we got "sharks don't like the taste of humans"

Yes, sharks have been known to "spit out" humans after mistaking them for other animals they want to eat. This is because we're (some more than others...) not as blubbery or have the "texture" they are looking for or expecting. But just like us, they'll lower their standards if they're hungry enough.

The "This magic moment" playing in the background is ironic

That shark was huge and yeah, that has to rank up there with awful ways to die

Bruh, that was Stand By Me.

Same singer though.

ETA: That video was pretty horrifying honestly. Although that didn't really look like water someone should be swimming in.

News reports are saying “Egyptian authorities” said they have caught the shark, a tiger, and are studying it to understand why it displayed abnormal behavior.

I'm pleased and happy to repeat the news that we have, in fact, caught and killed a large predator that supposedly injured some bathers.

Wouldn't they cut the stomach open to verify that the shark had recently eaten a man? That narrows the odds considerably

I am not going to stand here and see that thing cut open and see that little Kintner boy spill out all over the dock

Fellows, let's be reasonable, huh? This is not the time or the place to perform some kind of a half-assed autopsy on a fish... And I'm not going to stand here and see that thing cut open and see that little Kintner boy spill out all over the dock.

So you would go to the beach, and be too afraid to get in the water?

Looked like a tiger shark

They are methodical eaters and will eat anything.

Yeah I've watched a lot of bad shite over the years, but this made me sick to my stomach. Probably because it's terrifying to think what this felt like, just getting ripped apart and devoured alive.
