Yes, and also outing the school for knowing he was gay for the many years he worked there.

My kids went to SFX... Everyone knew Mark was gay, no one cared...

He was a very nice person and looked out for your kids, unfortunately, he was a terrible band director. The school band never really took off like they wanted it to,

This all goes down to these disgruntled parents, from something that happened two years ago, whose kids go to another school. Parents were actually going after the principal but it got Mark fired. The school didn't fire him, the archdiocese forced the school to fire him.

Apparently, a parent complained. Either a donor or the parent threatened to wreck sh**

Good for them. Children shouldn't be exposed to that in a religious private school.

The fact is the school was protecting him until this, just like the church does with all the pedos.

Its why I decided that religion was better on my own than as part of a church.

The school has been aware Mark Richard’s is gay. Because he’s well liked, administration including the priest has turned a blind eye.

A disgruntled parent was upset with the principal and went to the archdiocese to out Mark Richard’s in hopes it would result in the firing of the principal. Instead, the archdiocese made the call to fire the band director for violating the morality clause.

Unfortunately, the school takes the brunt of the blame for a situation they had no real control over. The archdiocese made the call. I was sympathetic towards mark richards until he decided to go to every media outlet in the city and drag the school through the mud knowing it wasn’t the schools decision.

Truth.... This is basically what happened in a nut shell... The school was forced...

I would agree but this implies that the school or whomever directly hired him knew that information

He signed that contract. I don’t agree with that idea behind it but any argument against the firing is null and void when you sign it.

It's always funny to see people complain when a religious school that requires teachers to follow religious guidelines enforce those guidelines.

Child molestation happens in all faiths, and it is sometimes not immediately and properly dealt with. The Mega Church Evagelical Pastor in this story actually hired lawyers to defend himself against molesting a 12 year old girl by accusing the Victim of coming on to him first.

A 12 year old girl. He had his lawyers accuse a 12 year old girl of being a slut. The child was still playing with Barbie dolls when he molested her.

Not only did the Mega Church cover it up but they actually hired legal help to accuse the victim of being a slut.

If the school knew about and did nothing bc he is a “nice” guy then they set themselves up for failure. The longer they waited just made this worse. Also this teacher knew this day might come bc he signed the clause. All it could of taken was a fresh administration to come in and say I’m not going to bat for someone that they know is breaking the rules.

Yep. The Catholic Church may be the most hypocritical and corrupt organization in the world, besides governments

check out that story I posted about that evangelical mega church pastor who molested a 12 year old girl and then accused her of being a slut who came on to him

Yeah I mean probably anywhere else and you're good to go... but that'll be a no go at a catholic school.

Maybe had a friend in admin at the time that no longer works there? Idk the circumstances but you sign that contract you are liable to be fired if you don’t honor it.

I know some of the Catholic schools here prohibit you from living with someone you’re dating out of wedlock.
Don’t like it? Go work somewhere else. Like a public school.

A parent protecting the integrity of their child's youth, isn't the pos here, but the hero. The teacher should have kept it in the closet better. Knowing it could turn on a dime, he's the only one to blame.

You know nothing about the situation...So I would suggest stop making shite up...

Jumping to conclusions and assuming things is what really gets innocent people in trouble.

FWIW, straight teachers have been let go for violating the morality clause as well for reasons you mentioned above.

In catholic middle school a single male teacher was dating a single female teacher and she got pregnant. They were both fired the day the news broke.

St Francis has had a leadership problem the last several years. I know of 4 families that have pulled their kids out of the school for different reasons.

I know a few families at St. Francis and they love it. Jessica the principal (can’t remember her last name) seems to be well respected and is doing a good job there.

Can’t speak for previous leadership.

Same though the main reason from my experience is the families did not like how the school treated/educated the boys.

That's always been a problem at SFX, a lot of the boys left in 5th grade to go to Christian Brothers. Unfortunately, we didn't do that with our son. He had like 6 other boys in his class.

They definitely focused more on the girls than the boys.
