If the Catholic Church actually worked to rid themselves of pedophiles instead of hiding them, I would be on their side. They did not. Nothing wrong with this guy's lifestyle.

Richards’ sexual identity apparently violates a “morality clause” in the contract for the school, a document he said he signed with “a wink and a nudge since it was no big secret that I am gay.”

The school (who acted rightly) has no choice but to fire him. Parents send their kids to a school with an explicit understanding that their students won’t be in the charge of a homosexual. The school must honor that commitment.

This isn’t news. Everyone who works at a Catholic school in the United States, knows about the morality clause, and the parents know about it too.

A private Catholic school fires a man after violating the morality clause of his contract
And does nothing when a priest molests children.

Are we saying that because the Catholic Church has a dark history that we shouldn't be able to enforce contracts on gay people?

Does morality clause have language about diddling children?
That would some hypocritical irony!

I wonder if that would fix the homosexual problem in the church.

Then work anywhere else that doesn’t have a morality clause. There should be no outrage on either side. When you sign a contract then willingly violate it there isn’t really much to talk about.

My oldest starts "real" school next year. It never crossed my mind to look at google reviews when we were determining what school we were going to send her to
Would someone really use google reviews as a factor when choosing schools?

I'm not saying that at all. In Louisiana, employers generally can fire employees for any reason or no reason at all, as it is an at-will employment state. I think in this case it is absurd. Especially since this guys sexual orientation was well known amongst the community. What you call the Catholic Church's "dark history" I call a dark present. These things are still happening to this day. Furthermore, the greatest commandments, according to Jesus in the New Testament, is to love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind and to love your neighbor as yourself. This is not WJWD.
The school has every right to fire this guy. I just wanted to point out the hypocrisy of the Catholic Church.

In fact, while the school’s pastor is the one who technically fired the teacher, the decision to do so came from the archdiocese. The school was well aware of his homosexuality and turned a blind eye to it for almost two decades.

Jesus accepts sinners, but you have to repent and be remorseful for your sins. Living as a married homosexual is not being remorseful for your sin

God does not expect and knows that no man is perfect. His expectation is to repent and strive to avoid/repeat the sin.
Being a life long gay man is the antithesis of that.

Were they? The teacher in question says this in the article:
quote:
I am 63 and as of yesterday, I was still worried about people finding out I was gay when I sent that email.
