Casino study suggests moving DiamondJacks to northeast Louisiana

MONROE, La. (KNOE) - A new study says that northeast Louisiana would be an ideal place to relocate a casino from the Shreveport-Bossier City area.
The study was just released by Spectrum Gaming Group. It says the Northshore of Lake Pontchartrain and the northeast region of Louisiana are underserved markets for casinos. The study suggests moving two low performing casinos from the Shreveport-Bossier City area to these areas. Such a move would recapture gambling dollars being exported to Mississippi casinos and would further strengthen the remaining casino boats in Shreveport-Bossier City, the study says.
Specifically, Spectrum suggests moving DiamondJacks to northeast Louisiana. They say such a move would lead to $60 million dollars in gross gaming revenue per year and $12.9 million in state tax revenue per year. For comparison, DiamondJacks' actual 2018 revenue was $38.1 million and it generated $8.184 million in tax revenue.
The report also suggests moving Boomtown Bossier City to Northshore. It says Boomtown would bring in $100 million in gross revenue per year, compared to $56.5 million in 2018. Estimated tax revenue would go up to $21.5 million per year from $12.142 million in 2018.
The findings further state: "The Shreveport-Bossier City market is down 21 percent since 2007 due to competition from Oklahoma tribal casinos for Dallas-Fort Worth-area patrons."
The study also touches on the potential impact of sports betting and iGaming in Louisiana. Spectrum projects that Louisiana could generate between $237 million and $332 million in sports betting revenue annually, the report says. It also says, "Sports betting can introduce a new, younger demographic to casinos, a cohort that does not typically have a high propensity to gamble at traditional casino games."

I'm pretty sure the Baptists in Monroe continually shoot down any casino attempt.
And Boomtown really isn't that bad, it's just not close enough to the Boardwalk. Sports betting would probably benefit them and DJ the most since they both have the easiest access on and off I20.

Well if it’s one thing we all know, it’s when a study comes out in Louisiana, action is sure to swiftly follow.

1. Where is Monroe going to draw its base from? Shreveport draws east Texas/Dallas. People who live 40 min away and beyond east of Monroe can drive to Natchez. And then there is Vicksburg, which draws Jackson.
2. Aside from upper class North Monroe and poor trashy south Monroe, where are their clientele going to come from? Crosett, Arkansas? Rayville?
3. Monroe is still a socially conservative town compared to Shreveport and LC. Not ready for change just yet.
Amazing these groups get paid to say shite like this and come up with "hypotheses". Diamond Jack's probably should change their name and their methods and look. Offer some better services and dig in and compete for all of the cowboys from East Texas.

The Northshore??? LoL. Slidell maybe but Mandeville isn’t going to allow a casino anywhere near its shores. Hell, they won’t allow a high end housing and shopping complex to go up on the lake. You think they would allow a trashy arse casino?

I would assume the middle of Vicksburg and Shreveport. Depends on a lot of variables. If they do something lame like no table games, I wouldn't give it long. Keep it within reason, and I think it could survive. Draw a line from roughly Delhi to Grayson to Ruston to Crossett and back. Again, within reason.
