I didn't know Marcelo but I worked closely with Manny Fernandez's wife Dorothy Harrington in the late 80s at the DEQ.

Fun times back then with Roemer as governor and Edwards working his way back.

This is the house where he gave an ultimatum to LHO to kill JFK.

No, but that particular building is nearby.

Seeing that bed caused existential dread.

He was nothing more than a humble tomato salesman. Stewed and crushed tomatoes to be exact.

I like the architecture (at least most of it), but the location is a hard pass. good luck to the street rapper who ends up buying it then trying to portray himself as "Marcello-G-thang" or some other sort of mafia/hoodrat blend.

The sound quality of those devices must be shite these days when compared to all of the Alexa’s and what not.

Been past more than a few times. The house itself is really nice. It appears well-built, as opposed to the McMansion thing going on these days where they maximize your square foot per dollar by building cheap and ugly.

it's cheap because it's been surrounded by little houses in an unspectacular area for 50+ years, right by the freeway. I think there's an asphalt plant nearby, too. As you can see there is no landscaping of any sort. The garage looks awful. Subsequent owners have probably cheaped out a lot.

Marcello probably built out there becuase he didn't want the attention one would get uptown NOLA or old Metairie. But now you have a once-nice place with not enough amenities aroudn it.

Wouldn't surprise me if they subdivide into apartments.

Yuuuup saw the school rankings

People with any means don’t send their kids to public school in the New Orleans area. No one spending 500k on a house is using the public school

Moving houses was a real thing in New Orleans 100+ years ago. A lot of really big houses in the garden district and uptown were moved, in some cases just around the same block, in other cases to different neighborhoods.

In this case, though, you'd have to stick to the westbank. Don't think you can move it across the river.
