The days of the facade of company loyalty are over. The employees have gotten smarter
Research has shown that “job hopping” has no negative effect on your career and you make far greater money doing that than sitting in one organization to show your loyalty.
And without the crazy pensions that companies used to shell out, there is no real reason to stick with one company for your entire career unless it just turns out to be a perfect situation for you personally.

I agree that its ridiculous that the courtesy is a one way street, but many companies offer severance to account for that. I'd rather not burn any bridges on the way out just in case (but will if warranted).

Yeah, that "we're all a big family" bullshite seems to always disappear when things get a little lean

Meh. I'm not the only conservative white male in my office by a long shot. I also have no problem avoiding discussing politics at work.
I don't post political rants on social media. Hell, I don't even have social media other than TD and LinkedIn

That may be true, but when my company had to downsize, people who haven't been with the company long were the first to go. Loyalty still counts for some things.
You definitely won't get the salary bumps the hoppers do, but there are way more risks associated with hopping.

You can't even give them a bad review for ditching their job, because you will get sued.

Yep. Good for the younger generations for not drinking the corporate Kool Aid and looking out for themselves.

That's got nothing to do with loyalty

I wish it was easier to find a good job without having 5 years in a field. How the frick I'm gonna build experience in a field without a job first?

If your company is in a position to downsize, is it a company you really want to trust with your long term future? Likely not
And your scenario is not always the one that happens. A lot of the time seniority is the first to go because they have the fattest salaries

No, it's not. But then again like Salmon said that survey is probably heavily skewed to urban populations.
If you don't think those types of things aren't driving forces for current young urban professionals, you need to get out of your bubble.
Don't underestimate the power of group think and virtue signaling to maintain status in a peer group.

Good. Recruiters/companies commonly “GHOST” interviewees. About time they’re on the receiving end..

exactly, 75% of the US working force in that age range does not need their companies to take stands on those issues. Is it true for whatever small pool that sampled? Sure why not
