When I was 15 Dad and 1 of his truck drivers rebuilt the engine in the 1970 Ford Galaxy 500 4door. The day I turned 16 Dad met me at the house immediately after school and took me to the Highway Patrol station right outside the entrance to the subdivision where they issued licenses back then. On the drive home he gave me the keys to the Ford.
It took me less than 10 days to bust a motor mount and cause the engine fan to rip its shroud to pieces. After the 2nd motor mount we sold it and I was handed the keys to the 6 month old Toyota Tercel 2door with a 5 speed.

I found this hard to believe so looked it up, it actually only 185 hp! Never knew this. I thought those cars were super powerful and fast.

The base engine for the ‘75 corvette was a pitiful 165hp. If you opted for the L82 you got the less pitiful 205hp. Dark times for performance back then.

1969 Mustang Mach 1. It looked just like this except mine had a 351 engine, not a 428 CJ.

I graduated from high school in 1983. My first car was a 1965 Ford Fairlane with a 289 engine. After I successfully drove for a year without a wreck and tickets I upgraded to a 1978 Chevrolet Camaro with Hooker headers, chrome side exhaust pipes with a 350. For a short time I drove my Grandmother's 1964 1/2 Ford Mustang with a 289 before it was totally restored by my dad. I then went back to my Camaro. I no longer have the Fairlane and the Camaro, but I now have the Mustang. I am only the second owner of that mustang.

1969 Impala from the Summer between 9th and 10th grade through college.
1968 MGB Fall of 11th grade through Spring of 12th. Sold it. My insurance and maintenance costs exceeded my income from gigs and roofing work. I kept the Impala. Multiple trips to Daytona Beach in HS. Even courted Mrs. M with it.
