I found this hard to believe so looked it up, it actually only 185 hp! Never knew this. I thought those cars were super powerful and fast.
The '80s were some of the worst years in history for cars. Poorly built, shitty power, and the electronic chip industry was bleeding edge so everything broke/failed. They were rather simple to work on (they had to be) and did fricking look cool though.
I'm big on nostalgia, but when I got in a 2018 Challenger with 485 HP that weighed and cost basically the same in todays dollars as that Z-28, with a shite ton more options and comfort, I was both sad and relieved I didn't own it as a 16 yr old.

In my high school, all the preppy boys wanted a Scirocco. But before the body style you posted. Damn parking lot was full of them and rabbits..

1963 Rambler station wagon. When it rained the passenger side floorboard filled with water.

Was it one of the Rambler Americans? Those were pretty cool looking. very similar to a Nova.
My Dad was a car guy, I drove several different cars in High school.
I had a 1970 Galaxie, a 71 Coupe Deville a 74 Cutlass, a 71 El Dorado and a 71 El Camino.

1975 AMC Gremlin. Second ugliest car next to the Pacer.

First was a yellow Maverick. Second was a Monza which, with a small block V8 and 4-on-the-floor, was a lot more fun.

Yep, American Motors Rambler. It was aqua and white. The wipers were vacuum-pump, so you had to let off of the gas to get them to go fast enough to see if it was raining hard.

Didn’t have a car in high school
Same here. My first car was bought not long after I graduated. It was a 54 Plymouth Plaza that had the streamlined appearance of a turtle-------and it was green. Damn sheetmetal on that car was THICK-----not like cars today that dent if you lean too hard on them.
It was powered by a 6 volt positive ground flathead in line 6 with 3 on the tree. No radio, no A/C, just heat.

3 on the tree.
That's how I leaned to drive a manual transmission.

It wasn’t this color, though
Or a Ferrari.
