Most rentals are paid for by companies sending their employees to travel for work, or insurance companies covering someone who’s car just got wrecked. Neither of those entities actually considers price when they get rental cars, so the companies charge whatever they want. And the people who want to rent a car for personal needs be damned

I rented a Hyundai Elantra for seven days while my truck was in the shop. I gave that little thing hell and it was still getting 45 miles to the gallon. My total bill: around $260... for seven days. What kind of vehicle are you renting?

you are under 25. Sorry. You should try a car share app/.
I have paid $18/day in Vegas, $35 a day in LA. I would say rental are cheap.

What car? I never pay more than $40-50 a day and I get a midsize SUV everytime. I got an expedition once for about $70 a day.
Oh you're only 20, you're lucky they even give it to you.

I pretty much only rent through Costco.
I had to do some stuff in Houston a few months back. I was only there for five hours. So I wanted something small and cheap.
I ended up with a full sized dodge Ram (when in Texas...) for $40.
not bad

Rented an SUV from Hertz for 9 days a few weeks ago. With the $25 per day insurance tacked on, it was $500 after tax.

Ryder or Uhaul trucks used to allow rentals at 18. Maybe go that route.

With the $25 per day insurance
Is a scam if you have a halfway decent credit card.

Also, do your weekend rentals from an airport location.
Many airport locations have special taxes that aren't on the other metro locations. Good way to fleece visitors.

I rented a Fiat for a 3 week trip and it cost me a total of $60.
True story, I was baffled.
There's deals out there if you search. Yeah if you go to the first Enterprise you see you'll most likely get screwed.

They would have given you a better deal if you knew what side of the number the dollar sign went.

If you’re under 25 it can be and under 21 even more. You eat tide pods to be cool. They know they can jack up your rates. I wouldn’t pay more than $15 a day for a rental.

The best thing is you dont even give a credit card to reserve it. No cancellation penalty even if you just dont show up to get the car.

Should be cheap alternatives for around $35/day for a corolla or something similar. Try Costco.
Not for a 20 year old.

Damn you TH03
Dude is 20, so he was born in 1997 or 1998. Gen Y normally has an end date if 1996. Close enough to to get residual Gen Y dumbfrickery
Some groups have Gen Y starting as early as 1977, frick that. The 70s is all Gen X. The actual bookend years are fluid by research group.
