And when you get there they probably just sold it but man do they have a deal for you. Since you just drove 6 hours one way they are willing to let you have a nice lemon (I mean similar car) for a steal (theirs not yours). J/K

Truly hope it works out for you. Please update this post to let us know how it goes and if you got what you thought you were getting. Best of luck.

A lot of times they'll deliver for free.

Even used.

They brought me my wife's van and my truck when I shipped in Texas.

Signed papers at my kitchen table.

I came to post this. They will 100% tell you what you want to hear the second they find out you are traveling there. They figure you aren't leaving without buying something.

Say Uncle ‘tique, found a bunch of stuff in the attic of my home I’m renovating. Think I can get a whole $3.50?

The wine glasses look like Waterford. If the are, probably $25 each (glasses in the front)

But when they pay you more for your old ratty trade in, I guess your just a savvy negotiator.

That’s why my BIL is getting there when they open, if we want it, he’s putting down a hold on it

But are they paying higher for the trade-ins? I doubt they are. I don’t have a trade in, I’m paying cash.

The car I almost pulled the trigger on here in BR was a 2015 Subaru Crosstrek. It has 147k miles on it. They were asking $15,000 +for it. It is super clean, and I know a Subaru with 147k miles is like many other brands (not Honda or Toyota) with 75k miles. It’s a great car. I got them down to $14,500, but I just could not do it. I walked away. The KBB value on that car was $12,500 on top level.
Another car was a 2015 Hyundai Velostar with 73k miles. They were asking $15,900, I got them down to $14,900, and walked away. That car just seemed like a POS, even though my daughter loved it. The KBB on it was $12,500 on top level. It did have a minor wreck on carfax.

Bought my wife a Santa Fe 3 weeks ago from Greg Leblanc in Houma. They took 2000 off MSRP. I checked with several dealers in Houston and they were only taking $1-1500 off, stayed in Houma.

ETA; wife had to settle for a red or white (she chose the white one) she wanted a muted grey, but none were available in the Limited package for a few months.

The market is going to implode and it’s going to be a lot of fun watching some of these bastards struggle.

The best car we found was a 2016 Honda HRV. Beautiful car, higher mileage (111k) asking $14,900. A great buy. We drive to Hammond, it was a standard transmission. The lost art of driving a standard.
I told my daughter she can get it, but she had to learn. She said no.

Even before all this covid shite, LA has always been inexplicably expensive for vehicles compared to other states.

I always attributed it to lack of financial literacy of the populace and just travelled to Houston.

one thing I noticed over the last three days, hitting every dealership from BR to Covington, it seemed like I was the only customer there, at every dealership. They were ghost towns.

I think most serious car buyers have been looking out of state for the last several months.

It’s a cycle. Dealerships have been relying on used car sales to remain afloat recently because new car inventory has been so low.
Used car buyers have been forced to higher volume dealerships out of state because local dealers are fleecing them.
Local dealers have been getting more desperate as their used car sales have slowed due to local buyers going elsewhere or waiting for the market to slow and prices to drop.
