My next vehicle I’m looking to getting is a Honda Civic. I keep seeing that they only offer manual transmissions or cvt transmission. Do they not offer you a regular automatic transmission? I’m not a big fan of cvt and that will be a deal breaker for me.

CVT’s suck.

But the Civic is one of the only compact cars in the US whose sales haven’t taken a nose dive in the past couple of years. There is a reason for that.

youre buying a civic but you truly care about the distinction btw the cvt and a regular automatic? I always assumed to people buying the civic its the same difference. Buy a better car if that shite matters to you.

Avoid CVT like the plague. Just drive stick or get something else. If you still want a Civic, get a used one with under 100K. They'll go to 400K easy.

That’s not a bad looking car for a bit over $20k. And I’m sure it will last.

Of you really want a Civic, don't let the cvt stop you. Modern CVTs are reliable and give the same shift feeling as a regular transmission.

My previous Honda had a CVT. It was a 2015. Are Hondas with CVTs known to have issues? I thought that was more a Nissan thing.

Yeah, I’ll bet Honda woke up one morning and said to themselves

Honorable self, we’ve worked very hard building a wonderful product and presently have a great reputation for our quality cars. Let’s change from our traditional automatic transmission and go out on the market and find a crappy CVT transmission that will not work long term to put in our entry-level basic car in the US to undo all these decades of our diligent work and totally frick up our business model.”

Not that I’d ever buy another Civic (it’s too small for my liking) but I’m sure the CVT that Honda uses has been properly “vetted”.

I’ve bought each of my little füts a new Accord for their college vehicle.

Zero mechanical defects from any of those cars.

Change the oil and go.

It didn’t occur to me, but my current car (new CR-V) also has a CVT. I’m not concerned.

The Civic is a damn good car. The Civic Type R is a dick magnet if you're into that. The day I rode in a buddy's Civic Type R, there were so many random dudes that came up and started talking to us.

I like the look of them. If I was a 17 year old Mexican I would get one; put a big exhaust and a cheap body kit, obnoxiously large spoiler and clear taillights
