The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette did this the other day. I first thought it was the typical, crappy editing. But, then I assumed this was the new thing.
Wow.

What a fricking joke. Let me show you a headline you’ll never see in this paper:

“Black man rapes white woman.”

Contrast with 50% of “news” stories today:

“White police officer mercilessly attacks peaceful Black protester” (not included in story is how peaceful protester resists attest, reaches for cops gun after throwing a Molotov cocktail.)

Correct capitalization is the difference between "I helped my Uncle Jack off a horse" and "i helped my uncle jack off a horse".

This is racist as frick.

Imagine how racist this would sound if you looked back to a newspaper in 1920:

We will use racial identifiers only if they are pertinent to the story, and we will seek to ask sources how they want to be named — European American, White, German American, etc. — and honor that. We will not capitalize black; White describes a shared experience in a way that black does not.

Gonna be a lot of capitalization then in future police reports.

So the headline 363 days out of the year will be "Black male shot and killed by another Black male"?

Race is only mentioned if it paints White people in a bad light

Only if it’s pertinent to the story.

Articles will be “Man assaults white man on street “

Doesn’t matter the race of the perpetrator

Of course you will see “Attack by white man on the street angered area residents “

If I don't share in the cultural experience, then I don't share in the shame of the cultural experience or in the reparations for the not-shared experience.

No, it’s not. It should be ‘affect’.
