I feel for the customers.

I panic over the slightest thing sometimes.

This would be rough for me to digest.

an hour or so if this is not resolved. People will be SOL until Tuesday. Will be very interesting then.

If they take a holiday while holding people's paychecks in limbo, any riots would be justified.

major bank in the US being down for an extended period of time with no explanation as to why other than a technical issue with a vendor

They’re having some sort of hack attack I guarantee it

Sorry, "it's a hack" people.

The vendor, Fidelity Information Services (FIS), based in Jacksonville, Florida, released a statement saying a local power outage had affected a data center that was critical to various applications.

On Friday, FIS said it had restored access to the applications and was working with impacted clients to post transactions that occurred while systems were offline.

Funny how Capital One didn't provision FIS out of any other data center, or their failover didn't work, but nobody else seemingly has any problems.

Bank if Oklahoma and Cadence were some of the other smaller regional banks affected

A power outage is scarier than a hack. That means that you can cripple our economy by cutting power to specific areas.

The fact that there weren't any failsafes is ridiculous

Not all people are in that position….but I still can’t transfer money in between accounts, see what my balances are, mortgage payment auto draft, etc.

It’s not affecting me. I just now used Capital One to send money and had no issues whatsoever.

From what I'm seeing, people can still use their debit cards and buy stuff. The main issue is ACH transfers (which is how most people get paid) and business accounts, as in business cannot even see their accounts online.

Are your work checks, if you work, directly deposited into your capital one account?

All businesses that bank with Capital One and pay their employees via ACH transfers and / or all employees who have their checks ACH deposited into their accounts have been down since Wednesday. The total number of people affected is in the millions and with over 40% of those people living check to check, this is a huge deal, especially with a 3 day weekend ahead and Banks not opening again until Tuesday. Lots of people going to be without cash for at least several days IF Capital One doesn't get this figured out in the next couple of hours.

My deposit still hasn't hit. Considering moving all my money elsewhere Tuesday when banks reopen.

They do not employ security experts. They purchase third party security systems that sit on top of the primary processing engine and monitors activity for fraud and tells the “security expert” if there’s the possibility of something happening. ALL banks and credit unions use the same backend systems. It is cost prohibitive to build a proprietary system that can pass all the security, regulatory, and compliance requirements mandated by the networks and government.

Even if you don't bank with Capital One, if your company does and they sent out DD then you are affected.

Don’t be fooled. Fintechs use the same backend processing systems as traditional banks.

Just got pff the phone with a rep from Capital One. She sounded like she was talking to a ghost. I did not yell or threaten. She could not provide me with any information on my account other than to check back Tuesday when they reopen. If they close Monday they will lose so many customers they will not no what to do. Truly pathetic response from such a large company.

Just finally allowed into my account, BUT it's not showing anything within the last 3 days, inc deposits. Does say, "We are currently experiencing technical issues. We are working to fix the problem as quickly as possible.".

So you are saying its right and proper that these folks should be in this position?

No, I did not write that. Your reading comprehension is horrible.

I wrote that, if you have people who depend upon you for maintaining a certain lifestyle, that it is irresponsible to not have enough in savings to miss at least one paycheck.

The conventional wisdom is to have at least 6 months of expenses saved.

If you are supporting a family (wife and children) it is irresponsible to not be able to support them beyond your next payday.

Sorry if that hurts your feelers.
