While I agree with you on the evil of cancel culture, I disagree that we should not engage in it. If the Left is not hoist on their own petard they will just keep doing it. Only by suffering from it can the Left come to the conclusion that cancel culture is not a viable path forward. So, cancel them!

You dont speak for me or conservatism or the right. The people demented enough to celebrate this have no business in our schools, universities, hospitals, etc.

Its not cancelling...its purging

So a list of stuff that largely wasn’t acted upon?

That is your deflection?

It's completely fine to ruin the lives of bad human beings gleefully celebrating the murder of a young father, actually

I never objected to the left's cancel culture on account of cancel culture itself. I object because the left is a corrupted group with bad ideology that has no real basis to sit as arbiter of anyone or anything.

Nope. You leftists do this every time. Its not both sides...its your side. We arent murdering political commentators and children in their pews. On the extremely rare occassion that its someone that remotely identifies with the right that does something heinous(Dylan Roof), we are horrified and disgusted and call for his head.

Only that isn’t true.

You claim to be an independent, but what you are, in actuality, is…

dishonest.

Perhaps you should just be honest for once and state that you are a leftist, and on your way to being far left.

It won’t be long and you won’t be deflecting from a non-violent, conservative voice being silenced forever…you will celebrate it.

I agree with you in theory that it’s dumb. I just don’t know how you stop it being a weapon of one side unless the other side starts to use it to cut both ways or social media being eradicated all together.

I think it’s great. Turn about is fair play. Especially if one is a public servant or people-facing job such as teacher, etc. It’s about time.

People are hypocrites. Cancel culture is bad when it comes to questionable racists remarks, but it’s fine when it fits their agenda.

i've already said this is not an apples to apples comparison... it's not... CLEARLY the assassination of a guy, whom I really did not agree with on pretty much anything, YET still condemn, whole fricking heartedly, what happened to him, is not the same as someone's feeling being hurt over being called ma'am even if she looks like a dude, which, IMO, is a fricking CRAZY thing to get upset over and shite like this is why i could NEVER join the Democratic Party... they crazy as frick too

to you bitches

simmer down... i'm being respectful, i fully expect the same to be given to me... you are better than this, Roger... i know you are, and by and large, i actually like you and enjoy your posts... i'd prefer you not taint my image of you... so let's agree to remain cordial... agreed?

words are violence.

no, words are words... to most sane people... but, to some, when they hear hateful speech, words, rhetoric, etc, that hits their confirmation bias, they get emboldened to act upon their sick, demented ideologies, and they do commit violence, b/c in their minds, they are justified b/c someone on their side said some shite that gave them that validation, in their mind, to do what they did... THAT is the danger in the escalation, from both sides, with their rhetoric, both in intensity and frequency, of said rhetoric...

Despite the fact that you continue to pretend like it is.

There is no hypocrisy. Youre simply blind to social realities.

Of course every situation is different, but in this case when people go public celebrating the murder of a prominent figure because they don't agree with his message, then I don't find it stupid at all.

Deflect?
I answered the person’s question.

The question was:
quote:

Got any proof of conservatives trying to get liberals fired simply because they have a political disagreement

Also, the coalition for better television acted on its call for boycotts. The Disney boycott in the 90s was acted on. And also because ABC or whoever aired this television show, Ellen. Definitely acted upon. It just didn’t work.

dude, you don't know me from Adam... and look, being on your side, whatever that may be, works for you... personally, i feel sorry for you, that you are not able to just think for yourself, and you need a party to tell you how to think or vote for a person or situation... but hey, you do you...
