We get $1200 from a 2 Trillion bailout. Woopie!
The bill would give C$2,000 a month for the next four months for people who lost their job because of Covid-19. It would apply to people who are quarantined, helping a sick family member, have been laid off or have not received payment from their employer.

We should only pay people who are laid off from their job or have had their pay cut.
That way we could help folks with 2k instead of $1,200 to a guy still making $74,000 a year.

So a married couple that works with 2 kids in the US gets $2400, plus $1000 ( $3400 ) and then the husband and wife each get roughly $ 800 per week for 16 weeks- for a grand total of $29k in 4 months ?

I agree with only paying those who lost jobs, but in order to get this through quickly I don’t think it’s feasible to accurately check who actually lost a job due to this. There also may be people who lose their right after the checks go out and then they would be screwed. Congress can’t project who will lose their job due to this. It’s a tricky situation.

What do they get if employed? Most employed Americans will get stimulus money.
Unemployed Americans get the stimulus check plus enhanced unemployment benefits. Some will receive more unemployment benefits than their actual paycheck. Pretty sweet deal if you can get it.

What’s Canada’s normal unemployment policy and what is America’s.
Canada says it’s only giving to those who can show they directly lost their job to covid19. America is giving to everyone

I think the cost of living there is higher, so $2k may not or may equal the goods you can get here for $1,200. I believe two peeps here under the income limit woul.d get $2,400
