I got a speeding ticket near Laplace. I do not want this on my driving record. A friend told me there is a fee you can pay to have it not go on your record. I don't want it to affect my insurance premium. Thanks

If the cop already drove away it’s too late.

If you have not had a speeding ticket in several years in the parish, you can plead guilty under Article 894.

Your other option would be to plead not-guilty to get a court date. Then you would meet with someone from the DA office and they may offer to change it to a seatbelt or brake tag ticket to get you to change your plea and move it along.

always a friend, sigh, call up the number on the ticket and ask them if there's anyway to get this reduced to a non-moving, extra money? maybe, but worth it, depends on your driving record

Who would you plead not guilty to if you’re not in court?

Go to the DA’s office and ask for an Article 894. You will pay fine ,costs, etc. and it won’t go on your record. If they give it to you and you don’t have recent priors.

If you go talk to an assistant DA you might be able to convince them to drop it if you take a defensive driving course and pay the fine.

Call prosecutor's office and ask. If you have a hard time getting through then go by there. Ask how to get your charge amended to a non-moving violation. Some will do so but require an online driving improvement course which costs 50ish. Then whatever the fine is. Between 200ish, fine + court costs typically. Others may have a traffic diversion program...150ish and dont get another ticket within a year, at the end of the year it's dismissed. Or if you're real lucky some nice prosecutor may just amend it to non-moving on the spot, pay and go about your day.

All you do is call the DA’s office in that parish and tell them exactly that.

They’ll change it to a non-moving offense and you pay that instead.

Someone once told me to pay a speeding ticket for the amount plus $1. The system will show a credit of $1 vs. $0. The automated system, that sends information to Insuarance companies, only sends $0 balance citations to the respective insurance companies.

I tried it and my insurance never went up or showed on my driver history for a new policy.

I doubt it was my little trick, but I like to think I cheated the system.

That could work in Laplace. Its also called a bribe in other parts of the country.

How much cash are you planning giving the judge/DA?

Dont do this for a traffic ticket.

This should be saved for a DWI or something more serious.

You gotta give the cop some cash in an unmarked envelope like when you get a happy ending at the asian massage place

There is actually a federal statute called the anti-masking statute where a court cannot refuse to report a conviction where a trucker is the offending driver. Of course, that statute only applies to truckers. Lol
