That’s a little different than say someone should always have a passport on them.

I was able to fly MSY with just my TWIC card no problem.

The guy in Omaha would not let me. He told me it’s the first time he’s ever seen one. I had my passport just in case so I didn’t make a big deal about it.

I've had a similar experience using TWIC cards at airports. It works at most airports but some don't know wtf it is
TWIC is literally administered by TSA

TSA.gov just says additional screening. Can you imagine the outrage if they actually enforced the law? It would be the most racist thing anyone has done in the history of racism.

I would prefer requiring RealID to vote before Real ID to fly.

What’s a real ID?

I recently applied for my Real ID. At that time all I received was a paper "temporary" copy.

I read the same things that they would not accept the temporary version. Had a flight out of Seattle on Wednesday but the actual Real ID license had still not arrived in the mail.

Showed the temporary Real ID (along with my old, non-expired drivers license) at the curbside baggage check. He took my bags and printed a new boarding pass and included the luggage claim tickets.

Inside, at security, I went through the CLEAR line. Been a member with them for 4-5 years mainly to avoid the long lines. Just like at the curb, they looked (and accepted) both the temporary ID and the old drivers license.

Once I got to the TSA agent, the CLEAR staff member just told him mine was a "manual" check in. Looked everything over and waved me through.

Something the deep state makes you get so they can track you’re ever movement. It’s really different than the Nazis saying “papers please” to the Jews

31st Amendment right?

The right to fly on an airplane

I didn't realize that flying was an inalienable right.

Good to know.

that’s not true in the slightest.

Right of travel is saying Florida can’t say “we aren’t taking and more tourists or residents, thanks”

It’s not saying you have an automatic right to all modes of travel.

By that logic a suspended license is unconstitutional

Not might. Will be. And you are giving paperwork and fliers informing you your ID isn’t appropriate for travel. The deadline is already past. We are in a grey area grace period but I’m sure they are logging and documenting how many times they are telling you it’s a problem. They’ll eventually cut you off.

Your second line is hilarious though. The premise is wrong as I’ve said already, but the condition of citizenship being critical: part of the whole point of generating RealID criteria was because pre RealID state issued drivers licenses did NOT uniformly confirm citizenship or legal residence. So you showing your non-Real ID actually indicates jackshit about your citizenship. Even if you used papers that did confirm your citizenship to get your ID, alternate pathways were allowed that didn’t. You didn’t get a special asterisk to separate from these alternate groups.

I guess I need to hear the reason why there is value in that. Especially for all times.

If I’m mugged or misplace my wallet I don’t want to lose both, and go through the headache of finding/getting a certified copy of birth certificate, etc to replace them.

Low percentage risk…….but against really seeing zero upside. Having secondary ID only was handy in air travel and it was only once.

Why buck the system and be a lazy pos. Go to a third party dmv with a drivers license, house bill and $50 and 4-7 business days boom you’re in business. Like another poster said, there has been years of notice it was coming.

I’m glad Mississippi just made it where when you get your drivers license that it’s compliant with Real ID

No big deal

If he meant it that way, yeah, that’s silly. I didn’t interpret his post that way. What he said was:
quote:

And everyone should have a passport at all times.

I interpreted that as having an active passport in some capacity and that could theoretically be overnighted to you in an emergency, not necessarily having it on you.
