Macau shut down all hotels and casino on February 5th. They have announced they are bringing all of them back online tomorrow. That’s 6 weeks. Roughly the same time most of China was shut down.
I’d guess we will be + or - 2 weeks to that timeline if we are aggressive on social distancing. I hope we are because dragging this out longer would be detrimental to the number of companies that could survive.
Edit: China has closed down its last Coronavirus hospital.
Apple has reopened their apple stores in China.

Yep.. but how ya gonna prove that until numbers go down?
They keep restricting more and more... yet they havent even given time for the first restrictions of no 500 people gatherings to make a difference.
I'm telling you until numbers start going down and that curve starts to go down they are going to keep this up. Wait and see.

The more testing that is done the worse the numbers will look. It doesn’t mean things are getting worse. It means we are getting closer to understanding the “real” numbers. We are probably 2-4 wks behind. The most important numbers to look at is hospitalizations because this is all suppose to keep hospitals from being overrun with severely ill patients. As long as those numbers remain flat and don’t increase or start to decrease then we are good.

This does not end when the numbers drop to near zero because that may never happen (just like the flu).
This ends when people under 80 decide to live a normal life and if they get sick they take a week off work and then resume life (just like the flu).
My guess is the attitude shift begins in the middle of April and by the middle of May people are living normally again.

2. HIV meds/Plaquenil/Zinc and maybe something else shows a reduction in mortality. These "trials" will be done in India, etc.
3. USA nationalizes production of these drugs (Think wholesale Tamiflu (I know, TF doesn't work on this). Drug becomes readily available to everyone.
4. Test kits become as easy and quick to use as influenza A/B
The USA can then declare "mission accomplished" and tolerate a slow, steady, but less numerous and less rapid stream of deaths.

China has just reopened roads/businesses and the government is urging people to come back to work. Will probably spurn another round but that may be inevitable.

I do think three weeks as I have been saying is enough to flatten the curb. I said this a couple of nights ago and was crucified by some.
This is not going anywhere (virus), but I think they will definitely curb it with three weeks being that everyone shows symptoms by 14 days (half by day 5).
They will try their best to drastically ramp up testing (think S. Korea). I predict within one month to a month in a half everyone will be happier with this horrrrible situation. Two months things will be rolling again (not full capacity), but moving and people who might not before will be practicing much better precautions.
If China curbed it in 59 days (businesses started operating again) than we will be similar. Now keep in mind China didn’t do jack for awhile. It was when they told everyone go inside and only go out for food and essentials for work or others in need (elderly/kids/pets).
It’s a sad and trying time for us all with family who take care of vulnerable people.
My boy who is 5 has spent the last to winters in the hospital for asthma over just allergies.
I have heart disease and dysautonomia.
The 4 main types of people to watch for with this in order are 1. Elderly. 2. Heart disease (yes over lung issues) 3. Asthma 4.Diabetes
We will get through and two weeks maybe three would curb the number and buy time.
We will have a better treatment plan very quick and in doing this we will have policy shifts like we have never seen before in our lifetimes. Don’t be surprised if they have a vaccine in record time way before they would usually have one.
TL/DR : hunker down for a couple weeks, business will suffer for a month, expect brighter news in a month, but this is just a new virus that will turn into just another thing we learn to live with.
Oh yeah I have a cold/sinus infection. My point is try to not let your mind run away if you have a cough. It’s allergy/ flu season....a lot of folks on north shore at least have a cough. Love y’all and good luck. I know it sucks
