i'm not concerned why they are asking you to pray. i couldn't care less about the different situations. i'm asking what the hell is an "unspoken" prayer and why they care if you pray with you mouth open or closed?

Possibly. But the only people I ever see request these vague prayers are the same people who constantly overshare on Facebook & are generally attention seekers. So unspoken prayers get a bad rap by association.

I always assumed they had something they wanted people to pray about, but didn't want to disclose what that something was.
I'm not a prayer warrior though so I may be wrong.

Read Mark Twain's war prayer. It is a short story available online. Takes about 10 minutes and is really good.
Basically an unspoken prayer is the unintended or ignorant consequences of what you ask God for.
You pray for rain because you need it but in doing so that same rain might hurt someone else.

Those who are seriously trying answer this are overthinking it a bit. An unspoken prayer is a request for prayer on a topic or issue that the person asking for the prayer can't speak about at the moment, this assuming they are sincere and not attention seeking. The intent is for you to just ask God to know their heart and help them at this moment. It's OK that you don't know what you are praying for. You are just asking God to intercede. It's the same thing you do when you know what you are praying for only you don't. Just praying for God's mercy, grace and intercession. Try it some time and have faith that God knows why.
