You cats should kick a little something into a kitty - maybe not to pay him, but buy him something nice (new grill, case of booze he likes, etc.), just to show appreciation. At a minimum, refer him a lot of business.
Neighbors like that are unicorns, baw.
He's the nicest guy in the world. He gets a lot of stuff from the neighborhood at Christmas. His wife has a local boutique and I buy stuff (that I really don't want LOL) there from time to time.
He is a great neighbor who lives next door to me. He is an older black gentleman and one of the few people who can come over and not get a highly less than friendly greeting from my Aussie Shepherd.
The big favor I return for him is that the neighbor behind us (doctor with 8 acres) has a giant woodpile behind his house that generates copperheads. My Aussie comes over about once a month to check my neighbor's hard, occasionally finding and killing a copperhead.

Ha! Tru dat. Or maybe pointing to it with the "happy ending" landing on/in the hole. Spray painting the entire hole white like it's been filled in. Msg to the city "dickheads fill in the hole"

Draw a pecker around it with white spray paint and they will probably come fix it.

Of course, lazy public sector doesn’t want to be out of a job

Without a proper aggregate mixture the pothole that you filled will be back with quickness

As a responsible citizen, I assume that you have already reported the issue with NYC DOT.
Doubtful. Most potholes aren't even known about by the city because they're on neighborhood roads that aren't frequented by city vehicles. And then idiot boomers don't actually report them to the proper authorities and instead bitch randomly about public sector jobs on the internet.

You dummy. What the hell is a “barrow”?
It’s a “wheeled burro”. Because it carries stuff. Like a burro, that they use in Mexico.
I swear some of you people just make things up.

Can private citizens who are sick of potholes in the street fill them up?
Take a wheel barrel, mix some concrete, and pour it in a pot hole. Allowed?

ya there will be issues if a cop sees you doing it, they arent understanding or willing to submit to common frickin sense to see it benefits everyone so they will most likely try to jam you up hard over it.
as mentioned, if you do it when no one is around to see it and dont go bragging about it on social media then it gets fixed and no one will object.
the counter to this is lets say bob goes plop a bag of concrete in a whole without cleaning it properly so it doesnt stick. now the first big truck driving over it most likely makes it pop right up out of the hole and you now have a huge salad bowl size chunk of concrete laying in the road that can do serious damage and cause an accident. and thats why they dont want bob going out there fixing his own pot holes

There's been a deep hole by my parents house for weeks. You used to be able to go around the side of it but now the side has crumbled to the point you either go in the hole or you avoid the hole by falling into a drainage ditch on the side of the road.
I don't see how they haven't had someone at least temporarily patch this. The thing is about the biggest liability I've seen uptown. Deep hole or deeper ditch. I think a truck with big arse tires can get in and out of the hole but my low to the ground mazda would get stuck in the hole or the ditch.
