Can an ATV that is parked and not running (possibly for hours) spontaneously combust?

I should mention that after it allegedly combusted, it burned down the adjoining double-wide.

Sounds like arson, yes?

Pretty sure there was a big recall on Polaris rangers for doing this very thing

Burned my brother's house to the ground after being ridden an hour before. There was a recall on the ignition switch on some brand about 10 years ago

Yes.

I had rats get into a locked SeaCan and chew wires. Sparked and set their best on fire.

Another option, leaves on the rear skids by the axles. I've seen them get lit through friction and start smouldering.

I could see them lighting later on.

ETA: Also, electric golf carts and side by sides happens a lot.

Yes. Guy on my hunting lease had his Polaris parked by his house and it caught fire. Wasn’t close enough to catch house on fire, just melted soffit.
