More details on this part please

lol...what "rights"? You're a customer - you have no "right" to their care/treatment/service.

That said, if you wanted her to bake you a Pride cake, then she, more than likely, would have to...maybe you can find a way to package that?

You "suggested" she increase her monthly expenses for your overall convenience. She probably would if she could. And maybe when she is inevitably bought out by a corporate specialty organization, they will spend that money for her. But what you suggested is not cheap. It's a recurring monthly expense.

As far as her firing you. It happens all the time. Sometimes the patient/provider personalities just don't mix. And neither should feel obligated to continue the relationship. You gave off a vibe she didn't like. Brush it off and move on.

They can fire you anytime they want just like you can choose to leave anytime you want.

I have a question.

Ignoring the fact faxed that form letter to you (which I think is pretty funny since the whole thing is based on the optometrist's lack of tech adoption), but why the hell do you still have a fax machine??? We don't even have desk phones anymore!

Small Healthcare offices still utilize fax machines b/c they are considered hipaa compliant with a cover letter. As opposed to paying for encryption software for their email.

Why OP still has a fax machine? Im curious as well.

You have to be a huge raging a-hole for that to happen. Most people are not in the business of wanting to make less money

Or the doctor is. Bad doctors whether it’s the medical part of practice or the management/owner role of practice including making cheap hires or using out of date systems (when not part of huge organization) can get a little defensive. They also get defensive about their inability or their hires inability to communicate properly.

They would prefer to get rid of someone likely to point out their practice’s deficiencies as compared to others or even their deficiencies as doctors. They also don’t want complicated medical issues. They like money train patients who are ok with the drive thru medicine and similar customer service or the ones they can easily upsell on “added” services of practice. Like some hospitals they may prefer certain insurance coverages more than others.

This may not always be evident with first visit but would come out after several visits, and if someone still chooses to stay with them it would have to be another reason like it’s right next door to home or is fairly easily to get hooked up with certain prescriptions every month. Issues ignored are still likely to come to a head at some point in the future.

Aren't doctors outside of an ER setting like any other business in that they reserve the right to refuse service for any reason other than those that violate constitutional civil rights?

Put her on blast on Facebook. That seems to be the go-to for Karens. I feel your pain though. Those forms are out of control.

Never understood this. Same thing with people who complain about customer service at restaurants or pharmacies yet continue to eat or use said place. Why keep going back if they suck?

I'm curious about what actions you were expecting to take regarding this matter? What results are you seeking?

I damn sure don't want to piss off someone that holds something as important as my vision in their hands.

Go somewhere else. Do you really want to be examined by a doctor who hates you.

Medical and education have completely bastardized credentials.

Dr Jill Biden...
Pharmacists calling selves Dr...
PT calling selves Dr...

GTFO

MD, DO, or Stem PhD. Otherwise, I'm not impressed in the least. It's total nonsense. It's a good marketing ploy on their part though.

I had a doctor once who wanted to put me on a certain medication for a micro blip in my blood labs. I declined saying that in context of the full panel it didn't seem to make much sense and it was something that would need to see how it trends over multiple sample. He drew himself up and puffed out his chest and said "where did YOU go to medical school?" I laughed at him and said YOU"RE FIRED.

This sounds made up.

Doctorate of Pharmacy
Doctorate of Physical Therapy

I have lots of friends in the medical community and outside of a classroom, I’ve never heard a physical therapist or pharmacist call themselves Doctor unless it was written on a graduation cake
