Its 3:21, and I'm not drinking yet.
Can you run that through your translator app again?

Almost any place can be good or bad depending on who you are, what you're doing and how much money you have.

All I see is subs on their menu.

Private schooling is common in all larger cities around the country.
The biggest private school in Houston has a total enrollment of 1,770, K-12. My kid's junior high has an enrollment of 1,800, and it's one of *23* junior high schools in Katy ISD. That's one district. There are five different school districts within about a ten mile drive.
Comparing that to the Louisiana/BR near required use of private schools is not valid. Not sure that was your intent though.

The worst part of baton rouge is having to deal with the culture in the service industry.

Baton Rouge is the perfect size and the people are awesome.
My wife is from Atlanta where her mom and siblings live. I got an amazing job in Atlanta, but she refused to leave Baton Rouge
I’ve been to every state except 2, I know a great town. Baton Rouge is a great southern city, we love it here.

Once again... Subs/Poboys
and again.... Subs
Everything in BR is a poboy. Sometimes I don't like eating 1,000 calories of bread with very little on it.
This is a sandwich:

From those four plus BR, how would you rank them?

Well many here consider New Orleans the “best city in the world” with BR right behind it…

How long have you been living in Baton Rouge?
I think a lot of people here, such as myself, remember Baton Rouge the way is used to be, which was a lot better than it is now. I'm probably looking back at the past with rose-colored glasses, but back in the day Baton Rouge was big enough to have plenty to do and all of the convivences, but still small enough to feel neighborly. Most of the violent crime stayed in North BR and you didn't see homeless bums everywhere for starters.
Things started really changing for the worse in the early 2000's, and the Katrina population shift really gave Baton Rouge a huge kick in the balls.

Down town was popping around 2011. Now it's a ghost town.

To the one person who downvoted this, do you know of a non chain sandwich shop? I seriously want to know.
I'm not the one who downvoted, but I can name a few. I'm absolutely hooked like a drug addict on the Save More shrimp poboys. I know it's a crappy gas station but they have a 16" shrimp poboy for $9.99 (32" for 16.99) and it's freekin delicious, loaded with shrimp and has excellent bread. Also, Poboy Express is pretty good. Anthony's Italian Deli has excellent sandwiches. Philly Me Up is great. And there's a new place about to open in Prairieville called Dirty South. I think and it's the same owners as Hot Tails who also has great sandwiches although I wouldn't classify it as a sandwich shop. That's just off the top of my head.

Common story across America especially with the WFH trend since the pandemic.
I maintain that Baton Rouge is a fine place; but I'd like to see better quality infrastructure and more organized suburbs.

I honestly would have stayed after college if I was able to find a job but I don't think it would of been as fun since most of my friends left BR after college too.

You could do a lot worse than Baton Rouge but you are wrong about the traffic. It is as bad as anywhere in the country.
