Called the cops after my truck window got knocked out/truck got broken into, legitimately took them 8 hours for someone to show up.

My BIL was a paramedic and his opinion is that 70 - 80 percent of the calls he got were non-life threatening.

I didn’t watch the video, but the only injury mentioned in the story was a cut foot.

I bet roughly half to 3/4 of those calls are for minor bullshite that could be solved with basic first aid.

I once worked in an ER in the city. From time to time people would be brought in with a complaint of chest pain. When they would arrive they would admit that they said chest pain because an ambulance would get there quicker. The really wanted to come in for their chronic back pain or other non emergencies.

You mean to tell me people with no co-pays and no insurance abuse the ER system for ordinary complaints and then bitch about wait times, all while continuing to vote for a political system that further accentuates broken medical care and wonder what’s wrong?

Get rid of it and let Acadian run the show

Know how I you don't know anything about AASI, that statement. Acadian prioritizes interfacility transports over 911 calls because they're guaranteed to be paid. Ever responded to a stabbing in meraux while you're at 16 mile marker on the causeway(almost 45 minutes away) coming back from a psych transfer to the northshore? I have but you go ahead and brag on acadian

Eta the night truck dedicated to st bernard was on long distance transport to Shreveport that night btw.

90% of our ER ambulance patients are acadian

Pretty sure they take more than enough 911

And? That’s the way it’s supposed to be. It’s a business.

I’m okay with this. I’d be pissed if I had an emergency and the cops were rushing to check out a broken window instead of assisting something important

Pipe dream but those people should be massively fined and then blacklisted from ever using an ambulance again.
