It’s comical that you would fall for this nonsense.

Don’t forget, Panera had an INCREDIBLY unique carve out.
They aren’t subject to the minimum wage hike.
The owner is BFF’s with ole Gav iirc.

They can pencil whip it all they want, but the true number is the 36,565 jobs lost, and it is right there in the first paragraph. Somehow, they claim their method increases the losses and then cuts it in half even as they admit the job market in non-fast food jobs decreased simultaneously.

Don't be simple.
Simple is understanding basic economics. You should try it.

The fact is the links aren’t really relevant. What everyone with a fundamental understanding of economics knew would happen as a result of this is in fact happening. You failing at attempting to obfuscate that fact means you disagree.

Indeed.
Think about that in the context of your post.

Is it better to have 530k fast food workers making $20 an hour or 550k fast food workers making $16 an hour? I didnt count the 200k fast food workers that were exempt from the wage increase.
550k x 16 = $8,800,000
530k x 20 = $10,600,000.
Seems the bill is great for fast food workers but sucks for fast food customers.

It looks great in a headline telling your voters that you got people $20 unskilled labor jobs. In reality, salaried management will be asked to cut labor hours and work with less employees.

But I don't disagree.

Dems don’t care
I used t fall into the "Dems don't understand economics" group, but now I agree w/ you--I think they don't care. They probably understand economics, but their voters largely don't want to be confused by numbers, logic, experience or statistics--they want pure emotions. Consequently, Dem politicians don't need facts, all they need is emotions. When low level jobs are lost because the minimum wage went up and became unsustainable, the Dem politicians will cry, yell, make accusations of others and emotionally blame something/someone else: racism, Republicans, "mean policies," oligarchy, _______ fill in the blank w/ your favorite excuse.

Extremely telling that your response to someone calling out false sources is to attack them personally and lie about their views.

Shocked its not more
I’m honestly surprised it had any effect. Not because basic economics would predict otherwise—of course artificially increasing the cost of labor = fewer jobs—but because so many employers already pay above the minimum wage even for low end jobs.
I recognize this example isn’t great bc it’s from Oklahoma and not California, but around here even the high school kids working first job type gigs at Chik-Fil-A or Braum’s are making $10/hr. Minimum is still $7.25. In fact I’m not sure that there are any jobs here that pay minimum. You either work in a weird exempt job that pays less, like waitstaff, or you’re an illegal immigrant making less than the minimum, or you work an above board normal job that invariably pays more than the minimum here.

Exactly . . . My initial thought when I read the title was WTF would economist waste their time studying this. Its like conducting a study to prove that 1+1=2!

The people of California don’t care, they don’t want to work anyway. They just want a redistribution of the wealth. Socialism, a growing trend that’s killing this country.

This is great news! They don’t need no stinking’ jobs!
