Anyone have any numbers on how much the state pay into the Fed and how much they receive in aid?
I'm sure some of the New England state pay 120% on every dollar they receive while southern states are in the 70% range.

No shite. It evolved into a debate over one mostly irrelevant statement. These kids are pushing an ideal that is essentially impossible if you ask me. I understand they want "complete utter freedom" in the truest sense...but obviously thats not possible in a finite world. I would think of all people, non-white students (and if asians as previously mentioned) would understand it from the scientific view. So here we are, they were trying to usher in "freedom of speech" to their university, yet they've pushed their own perspective of what the American flag stands for onto an entire region, and put no stock into the positive aspects of what the flag stands for. (Maybe the positives out-weighed the negatives?) Is it really freedom if only 12 students get to vote on this anyways? Yeah, they were elected by the students, but the students didnt have the freedom to choose what the elected student voted on after he was elected....therefore, the antithesis of freedom yet again was being expressed by these "pro-freedom" individuals.

Here is a better take on it IMO. Takes away some blame from the Council. Someone there has a bad view on the flag and likely should be either deported or thoroughly investigated there. Maybe look at cameras to see what jackass is taking down the flag.

They went the wrong direction with their solution. That student government lobby is their sanctuary of inclusiveness. They control the experiences in their lobby and could form powerful, positive associations on the spectrum the flag represents. It is a dumb thing to do for sure. I doubt that it was the Chinese though. UCI has a very active Muslim students organization that is always doing something to protest, Jews, Israel, or the USA.
