Seems like every time they are helping in a rescue, rumors start about how they are told to stand down or go home. Its the Facebook Mafia versus the Cajun Navy.

This board has proven to make fun of people for evacuating and then now makes fun of private citizens that attempt to rescue the same people the board made fun of.

I really don't get it.

Yep that's the shite that makes the Cajun Navy sound like a bunch of backwood clowns from down da bayou.

Why can't they just be a group of guys going to help people? Noooo...they have to be "admirals" in the "cajun navy".

I always thought these rescues were something first responders were actually pretty good at.

They are. They just don't have enough small boats at their disposal that can be used in these kinds of rescues. Cue private citizens with their own boats to supplement the local government responders.

There was a guy on The Weather channel last night saying there's some spin off "Cajun Navy" groups.

And the real Cajun Navy wasn't affiliated with them, he was giving out a website to donate but I forget the name.

This is getting confusing

He was on this morning and I can't remember the name either. He was just a lowly Captain though

The the person that posted the pic of the Coast Guard helicopter...

Pretty sure the Coast Guard has a slightly larger budget than the Cajun Navy. Not doubting their ability but given the same funding, I am sure private groups could round up ex military people and pull off the same rescues.

Also, like other volunteer orgs, some transparency in how they manage money would be good. Is the Cajun Navy a 501(c)?

LMAO. He calls himself the Cajun Navy Admiral? Is this a fricking joke? No wonder they will never be taken seriously.

I posted this in the other thread:

Somebody needs to ask Clyde Cain of Louisiana's Cajun Navy when is he going to stop taking photo ops in Houston and start getting fuel together for the REAL Cajun Navy boat rescuers heading to face Hurricane Irma in Florida

From what I am told, Clyde Cain has raised over $100,000 and has a new truck, expensive new boots, new sunglasses and has been eating in fancy restaurants and going to football games all on the name of the Cajun Navy but the real rescuers are struggling to get fuel together to go to Florida

No one should be seeking personal gain on the backs of these volunteer boat rescuers

Be careful who you are donating to!!!

It got corrupted during Harvey. They don't need a leader. They don't need donations. They don't need a Facebook page. They don't need notoriety.

It should just be good guys, with the ability to help people, doing what they can to help. There are still people like that, but others like the fame
