The way to order at little village is to stick to their specials and non Italian dishes. I’ve always thought their Italian stuff was pretty average especially considering the price

That watch repair place on Florida next Richards Ford.
That has to be a front for some money laundering outfit
I've brought several nice watches in there including a vintage Omega and a Baume and Mercier to be repaired. Kenny is one of the repair guys and he really knows his stuff. I highly recommend them.
I was just there a few days ago to get some watch batteries replaced. There's a slow but constant trickle of customers going in there. Every time I go, some other customers come in with repairs to be done.

I don’t understand how you sell so many pizza buffets to justify not selling that property.
I agree on the price of that property but I would imagine they do more pick up business with their drive thru window than actual Buffett sales. There’s usually a few other cars in line anytime I swing through to pick up an order

I saw Joe's crab shack finally shutdown which was long overdue.
Did it? To think that place made it over 20 years is unreal. They must have relied solely on the hotel occupancy around that area.
I saw one off of I-45 yesterday that was old, abandoned, all looked like a jungle growing around it. BR's should have looked like that 15 years ago, they're food was terrible.

This, but their Italian had improved. It just isn’t Gino’s though.
LV salads, bread, and filets are all very good. Specials are usually good too. LV has really improved in the last year or so.

They also do delivery and carry-out pizza, not just buffets.
The amount of profit on a delivery pizza is pretty damn high considering what it takes to make one.

Sicily’s problem was that they over-expanded by dumping the various small locations then putting a mega-buffet at South Mall Drive.
It was too big to get the volume they needed to stay open, even after they started partitioning off the building.

This will ruffle some feathers, but I find Mason’s to be a waste of money. I’m surprised how much people love it.
They appeal to the crowd of thots who think paying 25 + bucks for a few glasses of Andre and Tropicana is fancy. There’s a market for that sadly.

I'm surprised Marina's Mexican on Perkins by Maxwells Market stayed open as long as it did. It was a bit of a running joke that every time we passed it, we were shocked it was still open. Finally I passed the other day and it was closed down for good.
I’m not sure it’s closed for good. We live nearby and it appears to still be open. It seems to be open intermittently though. It’ll be closed on random days and times.
I share your sentiments - it’s okay in a pinch but nothing memorable. Surely not good enough to afford the rent right there.

I've lived in BR for 15 years and have yet to see a car out front. El Chapo must've been running drugs out of there.

Mike Andersons. It is garbage and has been for a decade or longer. Not sure why people still pay 30 dollars for a seafood platter that can't hold a candle to the ones that cost less at Parrains or Chimes.

Millers RV. Don't think I've ever seen a person there. And they have so many RVs
you should pay more attention... Millers is raking in the money, especially the repair shop.

This...it's one of those places where you walk in, the music stops playing, everybody drops what they're doing and just gives you the biggest "the hell you want" look. You ask about trying to get a tv repaired and you'd think you just asked them to kill their first born.

For all you Fleur De Lis haters out there, (and I know this is gonna chap some asses), check out the July 2021 issue of 225 Magazine. Their "Best of the Best" cover article lists FDL as the winner in the pizza category with 22.7% of the vote.
"With so much upheaval in the world, there's something comforting about a place that never changes. And we mean never. Fleur de Lis' thin, simply topped pies haven't been altered in decades, nor has its absolute rejection of credit cards."
For the record, I'm not affiliated with the place, but my family has patronized FDL since the early 1960's, though.
I don't believe too many people will straight up tell you it's the best pizza in town. It's just a good pizza and the crowds going in there for decades and decades prove it is a good product. How many pizza places have come and gone over the years, yet this one still packs the house, and has a 2 hour wait on some weekends for pickup? There is definitely a nostalgia factor involved, but that's only a part of the attraction. FDL certainly doesn't deserve the abject hatred it gets from some, and as one poster pointed out earlier in this thread, it strangely seems to be quite a polarizing restaurant. Many love it for what it is, and a few seem to really hate it.
For those who despise it , who cares? Do your thing.
BTW, the rest of the vote :
15.9% went to Lit
13% went to Red Zeppelin
12.7 went to Rocca Pizzeria
6% went to Schlitz & Giggles
I assume all the other votes were split among pizzerias that earned less than 6% of the votes.

Ruffinos. The most overrated "Italian" restaurant I've ever been to. It's not in the same ballpark as Little Village.
Try the Veal Marsala at Little Village and get back to me - you’ll never want to eat there again. Worst single dish I’ve tasted at a restaurant in Baton Rouge.
