If you had a particular business idea, there really isn't much you can do to protect the idea, right?

What if you had a particular unique name for this business idea. Could you protect it? Would that be a trademark or a copyright? Is that something that is easily done and can be filed and processed or would I need to hire an attorney for such work?

I'm pretty sure if you post the idea here, it would hold up in the court of law because its under your TD handle.

Your post is pretty vague. If you are wanting to protect a company name or logo, you'd get that trademarked.

This explains the difference between trademarks, copyrights and patents.

Won't work. One was in Dallas that went out of business in a hurry. When chicks complain about not having their own Hooters, it's their own damn fault.

I have always maintained that they fricked up the name. "Tallywackers" Meh....its a chicken place, should have been called Peckers.

I've managed an IP portfolio in the past, submitted and been awarded patents. I advise to spend some time on due diligence to really make sure what you have is unique and worth spending the money to develop and sell. I can't tell you how many people approach me with the greatest idea ever only to discover someone is already in the market.

no idea is born unto itself.
