No, for a variety of reasons
I doubt that this is even a photo of someone who went to Burning Man. It is obviously an airbrushed, studio photograph. The second picture on the opening page is more representative - someone having fun.

Oh, that makes it legit.
Why don't you look at some of the candid photos taken at Burning man?
I know that the festival and people who go there hire people. But, all in all, it is a fun time and you can be enlightened by it.

These are all people who vote in the same political party.
The elites and the hooligans.
I love the hypocrisy of politics.

I do, I just can't post them.

You can have your camp attacked and have property destroyed as well, apparently.

It is a festival for free spirits.
So the wealthy free spirits can go. You leeches will have to learn that you don't make the rules.

"You leeches?" I'm not a leech at all. I've never received any government money of any kind.
And, I'm self-supporting.

Thought I suspect the attack was a response to wealth flaunting, this was a small minority doing this.

Well, yourself and that giant trust fund.

So wealth flaunting is a crime now, got it. I'll be sure to leave all my bling at home when I go get "enlightened."
Just let me know at one point my "free spirit" needs to be disengaged from my everyday self.

I agree with most of your posts in this thread. Burning Man is ideally a celebration of open minded, free spirits. And one of the core concepts is acceptance... weirdos and normal people alike should be able to attend and be free from judgment (however you want to define weird/normal... in truth, it's subjective and each side thinks the other weird in one way or the other). All should be welcome.
... So, my only qualm with you is why you think an old man (not sure if he's more hippie or redneck) playing horseshoes with a toilet lid should not belong there? As long as it's new-- not a dirty, used toilet lid-- it seems a novel, innocent twist on a traditional game.

Rich people taking over a festival for outcasts. Who would've thought that would turn out bad?
Why can't "outcasts" just do their thing and not worry about what the "silicone valley" types are doing? Sounds lame.

And there's this, of course. All all in for Hillary.

Burning man hasn't been a bunch of "outcasts" in years. More like trust fund types pretending to be outcasts. Kind of like many of the "hippies" in San Fran in the late 60's.

I bet you're fun in the sack.

Burning man has surveys which collect information on demographics. The event has changed drastically from 2000-present.
In 2000, most people described themselves as non political. Now, most are political, about 75% have a college degree or advanced degree, and most admit lying about attending Burning Man for social/employment reasons when they return to the real world.
It's a bunch of upper middle class people cutting loose for a week, nothing like it was when founded.

I've been twice (2004 and 2005) and it's an incredible experience. My brother is there right now.
But there is definitely a class warfare element that exists in the burner communities (worldwide collective and regional groups). My brother is a financial consultant for a major firm and he gets shite all the time for it, as if he's committed some kind of a crime.
But, I've never heard of anything like this happening to a camp. That's just fricking sad and I hope the perpetrators get caught.

Hey Yoga Girl. Do you do yoga in Baton Rouge?

Let's be honest, you're either wealthy or totally expendable to go spend a couple weeks in the desert getting wasted and staring at lights.
