Why do you pay the same amount for a hamburger if you get it fully loaded with Onions/lettuce/pickles/tomato...............than if you take ALL that off and get it plain?

I heard an insurance commercial that brought that up and I never thought about that.

But they charge you extra if you wont cheese or bacon. Shouldn't you get a discount if you remove the extras???

Because a slice of all of those vegetables costs like 5 cents. The other stuff costs more.

Not that hard to comprehend

Because the profit is in the drinks, not the burgers/toppings.

Chick-Fil-A takes off money from the cost if you get something sans tomato or whatever. Of course, they’re better than other fast food, so there’s that.

Well, in that case, how about you just weigh your food and pay a set amount of how much it weighs, like at some frozen yogurt shops

I've noticed places that advertise 25 different burgers, which consist of the exact same burger with 24 different toppings for $2.50 extra.

I know there has to be a good reason.............but is a piece of cheese THAT much more than a tomato?

You are paying for the burger fully loaded............whether you get it that way or not.

I dont really care............just made me think when I heard that.

Your wrong there. Tomato prices are high. In fact they got so high last year that these was shortage and many places were not including any tomato. Nice slice of tomato is .10-.15 now.

Yes, yes you are.

Thank you for the tomato expertise, though.

You don't incur the cost of abusing & murdering innocent animals to add vegetables.

The other stuff(bacon, cheese, etc..) does cost more, however the actual stuff on the burger may be minor in their direct value, Veggies spoil so while may have one tomato slice on a burger you might have to throw away a lot more.

simple answer is its built into the price, its too hard and a waste of time and resources to itemize each topping and charge for it. Most people hate extra charges for meals, so people prefer the all in one price

You're paying for what we called a "grill" at McDonalds when I worked there aka "Customization".

This is exactly the same at Pizza Places. A Papa Johns order screen on the make table may look like below when they get a few orders at a time. Which one you think is the picky a-hole who don't want onions and bell(green) peppers on his pizza? That shite has to go in the oven in order so it's boxed in order and dispatched to carryout or delivery in order. You're paying for fricking up the routine and potentially fricking up other orders(happens about 3 times a shift).
Key: 14(14 " origianal crust), 14T(14" thin crust), W(works), P(pepperoni), C(cheese)

Screen
-----------
14 W
14T P
12 P
14 P
14 W-O -GP
14 C
-----------

Deal wit paying the same price for being a picky poon.

It's "want" but these are more expensive than cheap, shitty quality produce.
