Are jobs in technology hard to get. I assumed if you had the degrees, and know how jobs were easy to come by in this field???

agreed. i kind of took this as a "it's ok as long as it doesn't effect us". situation. Go ahead and compete against biological women swimmers but, don't dare come for our jobs.

Entry level is fricked right now. Most companies implemented hiring freezes the last two years so 2023 grads are competing with last years grads. The tech big wigs (Meta, Google, Amazon, Microsoft) went crazy in 2021 and hired thousands of engineers each in anticipation of the economy shifting to be completely virtual/remote. Those companies have corrected that by laying of a lot of those engineers and instituting hiring freezes this year. In short, college grads are competing with grads from 2021/2022, engineers with Google/Amazon on their resumes, and cheaper foreign talent (India).

The Grace Hopper Program at Fullstack Academy is a live online software development bootcamp for women and non-binary individuals.

The annual conference and career fair aimed at women and non-binary tech workers

men were now taking up space and time with recruiters that should go to women.

“This is a conference for women and non-binary people,” Barman says.

not only how fragile our spaces are, but why we need them more than ever,” Azar says. “Now is one of the most important times to advocate for gender equity.”

Tech is known as an industry overwhelmed by men. So much so, that one woman says a tech conference for women still couldn’t keep a bunch of dudes from showing up and trying to capitalize on opportunities not meant for them

“POV: You’re at a women in tech conference watching the men take the jobs for the girlies,”

Why would a man be there?” Audio of a woman’s voice set to the clip frustratingly asked. “No, it’s actually passing me off.”

was marketed as the “world’s largest gathering of women and non-binary technologists.”

Right? I'm sure he was thrilled to show his support and outrage when his women subordinates reported the news to him.

How so?

They had to lie about their gender to get into the convention.
