They are going to go to farms with animals and other food and water sources. They will take any guns you have to form own militia. 10,000 ain’t that many is metropolitan areas with 1,000,000’s of people. When it first starts they will be roaming and may settle later. The HS games I go to draw 5,000. Nothing to double that number. Like there will be some organize to it at first - LMAO.

You can slice it however you want but a bunch of guns and ammo isn't going to do much if you live in a city or suburban area.
If you live in the sticks on some property and have some guns and ammo, that's a whole different situation.

Remind me how was that Argentinian gang situation going? Prettttttty sure they have had quite the violent decade or two, no?
Sounds an awful lot like might makes right type situations going on…….

war torn Europe
How did Kosovo look in the 90s again?
Chechnya?
Lots of might makes right there as well.

Awwww it’s cute you don’t see man’s inhumanity to man in ingrained into our very fiber and being.
At the end of the day, when society collapses, might makes right when it really boils down to it. Like it always has.
(Ps…. Modern society isn’t peaceful either… the might makes right is still alive and well, we the average citizen are just disconnected from it)
We are, after all, sitting here talking online because the US military has ushered in Pax Americana.
Not our money… we don’t have any of that we are 36 trillion In debt.
Our military.
The thing that is actually here. Real. And tangible.

In that situation, what’s worth more to you, 3 1oz gold coins or 300 rounds of 308?
A wheel barrow full of gold is absolutely useless in that situation.

My thoughts are other than that liquor, tobacco, and female affection will be valuable items. I know how to cook moonshine. I have tobacco seed and know how to grow and cure it. Someone else will have to supply the female affection.

That’s what I’m saying but they will eventually show up in rural areas.

I’m not trading anything for gold coins.
You wouldn't be trading anything with anyone if you wish to remain alive.
22 long rifle is the cheapest to buy in bulk and probably the most useful. Sometimes I'll just notice of a whole shelf of 22lr bulk boxes and I can't help but buy one lol

72 hours is the time it takes for most to run out of food and water when the government fails (like it did in New Orleans) in which point guns and ammo became the currency
Even with your move of the goalpost on guns as currency, guns were not needed to loot and survive post Katrina. Again, most looters were not armed.

How the frick are you so dense to not grasp that?

Does building up a supply of guns and ammo need to be thought of in the same way as cash, savings, stocks, 401K, etc?
Rarely do guns and ammo lose value if properly stored. Aside from the SHTF scenarios, it’s probably not a terrible thing to put some money in.

Rule of thumb: at least 3 mags to break contact.

I've never purchased a gun. My wife, however, has purchased a ton of them, but she's kind of ditzy and doesn't remember where she left them. That's a woman for you, amirite?

Aside from nuclear war, give me a scenario wherein the us economy collapses to the point of societal collapse and pure anarchy.

There is none, but a lot of these dudes saw Mad Max and fancy themselves as survivalist so they hatch these hair-brained scenarios that will never happen to rationalize buying an AR, when in reality, they buy the gun because they think it's cool.
We'd all be dead shortly after the apocalypse begun and, frankly, why would you want to live through that?
