You really have to stop believing the media's interpretation of what they think they heard. This happens daily. We're told he said this outrageous thing because the media said so, then you go look at what he actually said and it turns out they took what he said out of context. Remember when this was the most outrageous thing a president had ever done of foreign soil?

It helped that he competent people around him and an outspoken wife who could eloquently speak about policy. Granted, it was much easier to shield Reagan than Trump not only because of Reagan's lack of narcissistic behavior but also the lack of social media.

On that, if you note in the video one guy tries to stop and gets pushed forward by his supervisor. The guys behind come to the old guys aid as the video mysteriously cuts out. That is standard riot procedure. The front line has to stay together and not independently stop or move away. When someone breaks through or they pass them, the guy on the front line can't break off and chase or stop to render aid. That would leave a hole in the line for protesters to pour through and it would be over. The police did a truly shitty job of not explaining that right at the beginning. The guys up front with the shields never stop or break ranks. That is what the guys following without the shields are for.

It's going to be funny when the first debate happens and people who have heard friends and family regurgitate the "Joe is senile" mantra watch him run circles around Trump. He's medically diagnosed as having a stutter and Lord knows he makes some gaffes and occasionally loses his train of thought but, as someone 30+ years younger than him, I do the same thing from time to time. What he CAN do, which Trump can't do, is speak with a voluminous vocabulary, offer thoughtful sentences and policies, speak knowledgeably on many, many issues thanks to his decades of experience, and, you know, make it through a sentence without offending someone.
